Default External voltage on 7003SB

I would like to use the external voltage function to monitor the voltage of my turbine ECU battery.

Do I have to put a switch in the external voltage cable?
The manual of the R7003SB receivers indicates to only connect the external voltage after the receiver is powered up.

I would rather not put a mechanical switch in there frankly. The same goes for unplugging that lead every flight.

Thanks in advance.

No switch is required. I've never used one. I have no idea why that is in the directions to be honest. You do need to use the SNS-01V sensor however.

I was always told that as the maximum input voltage could be up to 70 volts, the switch was there to protect the receiver from any possibility of voltage feeding back into the circuitry before it was turned on ?

The instructions for all telemetry FASSTest/TFHSS receivers state maximum external voltage range as 0 to 70 volts. That would be a 16S lipo power system feeding voltage directly to the RX. An unlikely event for many reasons.

Simple fact is that in practical experience of myself and a large number of other Futaba users there have not been any issues generated by not having a switch on the external voltage connection.
