12FG Tx radio problem

I set up an electric heli and went into the THR CURVE page, when I move the throttle stick from the lowest bottom position to the full up position the vertical line that represents the throttle stick doesn't go to 100% on the graph. On the display it is showing NORMAL, 9POINT, OFFSET +0.0, RATE +50.0. At bottom stick the readings are POS -100.0 RATE +0.0. At full up position of the throttle stick it is showing POS 22.0 to 26.5 & RATE +61.0 to 64.5. The vertical needle is bouncing around. Now it is showing 82.5 on RATE.

I have set up other helis weeks ago on the same radio and I do not remember NOT getting a full 100% displayed on the THR CURVE graph. If I move the THR stick to full throttle (full up position) the vertical line is just past the 7 point on the graph.

If I change models and go to the same THR CURVE page, the throttle stick at full throttle is only showing POS 57 to 60 & RATE 83.0

Not sure what is going on with this radio.

The reason I noticed this, is it seemed to me my electric heli was not reaching normal main rotor head speed, so I looked at the THR CURVE page to see what was going on. [:o]

Thanks, Mike

Have you tried adjusting the numbers to get the performance you want? Don't accept defaults as "correct". You have to make adjustments to suit your model and flying style.

RE: 12FG Tx radio problem

I don't understand why the default setting would be less than 100% when the throttle stick is moved to the full up position? When I move the throttle stick to the full WOT position the vertical line that moves in the graph I would think would move all the way to the right on the graph, but it doesn't. IT only moves to just past the halfway point.

Is it possible that I set up another model in the Tx in a "GROUP" setting that has now made the above condition standard for all my models?

Could you please explain how I should change my Throttle curve values to see if I can get full WOT.

Thanks,

Mike

RE: 12FG Tx radio problem

I was just looking at the THR CURVE page/graph and the vertical line that is controlled by the throttle stick jumps around ever so slightly when the stick is stationary. Is this normal? The default throttle curve goes from 0 to 100, a diagonal line across the graph. Again, if I move the throttle stick all the way up, it is shoaph as just below the 6th point on the graph. And it is bouncing around ever so slightly.

What is interesting is I switched to the PITCH CURVE graph and it is showing the same thing, the vertical line representing the stick movement is only climbing to the 6th point on a 9 point graph.

I am using a default/new model slot with default settings setup as a heli. I also noticed that if I run the throttle stick all the way to the top against the stop and I move the stick full left and full right but against the stop the entire time, I notice the vertical line moves either decreasing or increasing in value by about 15 points. I would think this value could not increase or decrease since the stick is at the full top position against the stop?

I am just confused about what is going on here.

Thanks,

Mike

If you are not moving the stick, but have your hands off of it, and the graph is moving around, you may need to have the stick pot replaced. That movement could indicate a dirty stick pot.

One model setup cannot affect another model setup. They are completely-different. Settings made in one model will not affect the settings made in another model. If that is, indeed, happening, then there's something seriously wrong with your transmitter, and it would need to come into the service center for repair.

When you hold the throttle stick at full deflection and then move the tail rotor function, the throttle should not change. That indicates you likely have a dirty stick pot or possibly a damaged stick assembly. Again, something for the service center to examine.

RE: 12FG Tx radio problem

Hi Bax.

Yes, I have decided to send in the Tx, as I also think something is wrong inside the radio.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Bax.

Do you know what the current turn around time is for my Tx at Hobby Services in IL?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Krysta.

Okay, thanks for the info. My Tx is on its way to you. This is the first time I have ever had to send in a Futaba product for service. I have been using Futaba for about 20 years so your track record is pretty good. I suspect that the tech's will find something wrong inside the radio, maybe a bad pot.

Thanks,

Mike
