Futaba MZ-FM transmitter module - Hitec Version?
 

Hey everyone.

I am looking for an MZ-FM module and antenna for my 12Z radio, but wonder if there is also a Hitec version of this module as is the case with other Futaba TX modules. I searched the classifieds here for "MZ-FM" and got ZERO hits. Has nobody bought/sold one of these here, or am I searching incorrectly?

do not believe that hitek ever made a module to fit the 2 MZ radios, 12 or14, that futaba produced.

the mz series modules have a MUCH smaller overall size and footprint to the standard TM series modules.
the modules are labled as:


72 mhz
MZ-FM
futaba red lable

50 mhz blue lable
MZ-FM
Futaba

i still use one of each in my old 12z backup radio for slope flying.

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know if the 12Z's 72 MHz antenna is unique to the 12/14 or is it common to others? I have a boatload of Futaba equipment from G-series to some of the 7/8/9 channel "Supers". Diameter and threading is one thing, but I suppose the length could differ as well based on RF internals.

the antenna length is a factor of the freq band the tx operates on.
we use 1/4 wave antennas on our 72 mhz tx, they should all be the same length, within measurement errors.

in a pinch i have obtained telescoping antennas on any length at least as long as needed and then just soldered as many as needed to limit the total length to what we use.

did you look at the back of your TX, lower left under the battery tray on the side of the tx and see if the antenna in in it's carry hole?

Yeah, I didn't know how picky the engineers were when it comes to the internal wire from the RF module to the antenna, which could contribute to the effective antenna length.

No antenna in my radio - both positions were plugged off when I acquired the system, which is set up for 2.4GHz. I confirm that the extended lengths of my T8UAF and T7FG/K antennae are identical, but the T8's antenna appears to be physically more compatible, as it doesn't collapse the same way and leaves the tip visible, while the G-series antenna completely disappears into the case. Either way, thanks for the demystifying the compatibility issue - looks like I only "need" the RF module. Will probably post to the Wanted section.

Simple answer; Futaba DOESN'T play with Hitec.

The poster look to be seeking clarification on the compatibility of the 12Z's 72 MHz antenna with other Futaba equipment. Understanding the technical specs allows for seamless integration across devices.

Sorry - looking back at my posting, it was a bit unclear, but the others interpreted it correctly. I am missing both the original antenna and the MZ-FM 72MHz RF module for my 12Z, and wondered if I can just use one from my other radio gear, and it looks like they are indeed compatible (same diameter, threading, and extended length) for the Futaba 72MHz systems.
