6exa problem
 

hi. i was putting together a plane i got today and i was installing the radio. i turned it on and tested it, then turned it off and put it aside. without dropping it or hitting it on anything, i picked it up again to test it again. the throttle stick acted almost like the other sticks-it would get tense the higher i pushed it. so i took the radio apart and started fiddling with it. using the other stick as a reference, i tried to make everything look the same on the throttle stick. i finally figured out the problem and fixed it, but its too hard to explain. did anyone else have this problem?

Without more details, we'd not know if it's something we've seen or not.

ill try to explain. there is a metal pin that is in the center of the plastic throttle thing inside the controller. it moved out slightly and began to snag on the plastic thing on the rudder, which limited the throttle stick movement. i opened the radio, pushed the pin back in the hole, and hoped it would not happen again. it happened once more, but i pushed the pin in farther this time and it seems to be working. its just weird that it happened without dropping the tx or banging it against something. i thought about putting a little glue in it to hold the pin there, but i thought again and didnt do it. im thinking its because of the temperature changing after leaving the radio in my garage, then putting it in the warm house. btw, is it safe to leave a radio in a cold garage?

It happens to me also, and thankfully was when I was setting up a plane and not in the air.

it started happening more frequently, so i took out that little assembly that has the pin in it and glued it in, waited for the glue to set, then got it back in the radio. hasnt happened since.

I would like to know how Futaba recomend to solve this rpoblem?

We've seen this happen once in a while. We put a drop of glue on the pin when we replace it.

I two have had this same problem. However, this has happened two times in the past year (radio is 1.5 years old). One minute it works and then next the lever only goes up halfway. The first time it was fixed under warranty, but now I am told I will have to fork out $45 for repairs. This seems to be a common problem with the 6EXA. It appears no one bothered to put any glue on it when it was fixed the last time, so are you guys willing to fix it so it does not happen again?

I received my radio back from Hobby Services within about a weeks time. I am very satisfied with the service I received from Bill Baxter and Hobby Services. They repaired the gimbal and shipped the radio back to me as if it was still under warranty.

I've found that I also now have this problem. Please will someone either describe where this pin is or submit an image of the same ?

I never found the pin that some are talking about. I have sent my 6EXA back to Hobby Services two times (one in warranty and one out of warranty) for this issue and they repaired it for me both times at no charge.

Thanks. If anyone does know where the pin is I'd be most grateful for a chance to do it myself and keep it out of the workshop.

We don't have a diagram of the gimbal, but when the transmitter is opened-up, and the gimbal assembly examined, the pin's location is quite obvious. Otherwise, you should contact Ripmax for service information. They handle Futaba in the U.K.
