servo differences?

I have been out of the hobby for about 10 years and am puzzled by the number of futaba servos that seem to be almost identical. I'm sure they are not but can't find the specific differences any where. in particular i am wondereing about differences between the following servos: s148,s3001,s3003,s3004. i understand that the3001 and 3004 have ball bearings, but am confused about standard and precision terms of the servos. They all have the same torque and speed specs so am wondering why there are 4 servos that appear to be very similar. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks

RE: servo differences?

Hi dano50021,

These servos are basically the same, there may be some very small differences such as the way the lead exits the case, to whether they have ball bearings or how many. As you say you will not see much if any difference in them as far as torque or speed.

As far as the "precision" label this simply means that they have a smaller "dead band" and better resolution.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

Sincerely,
Krysta

Thankyou for your reply. I was thinking pretty close to the same but just wanted verification.
