Hardwire Servo Reverse Possible?
 

I am setting up a nosewheel servo on a y-connector with rudder signal. I need to reverse the nosewheel servo. Can I cross the red and black wires on the nosewheel servo lead to achieve this, or am I forced to use a matchbox?

While I realize I could use another channel and run an offset mix, I am using a 9-channel receiver and all channels are taken (P-38!)

Any other suggestions?

Hi Keith:

They make an after market in line servo reverser that could solve your problem. Just go to Tower or whomever and type in that line, or go to our old friend Google.

The reversing of the wire will not I repeat will not reverse the servo, that must be done by doing some rewiring on the board within the servo itself. Belief me it is cheaper and safer to buy the after market product...

Reversing a servo by rewiring requires you to swap the two leads on the motor with each other, and then swap the two outside leads on the feedback pot with each other. Because many servos have the motor and feedback pot soldered directly to the circuit board, this becomes problematic. The only solution is to use a reversing "Y" harness or MSA-10 Servo Synchronizer.

Thanks Bill. I did some more research and found a couple aftermarket devices that will work. Expert makes a simple Y harnes that has a standard lead and a reversed lead. The reversed lead has an additional pot on it that lets you trim your reversed servo, perfect for aligning my nosewheel in this application. Only $8 too!!
