9C - change from 72MHz to 36 MHz

Hi

I am an Aussie living in China. When I purchased my Futaba 9CH 3 years in Guangzhou ago I could only get 72MHz. This was OK as this is supported in China. Now I am getting closer to going back to Australia I need to convert to 36 MHz and eventually sell of my 72 Mhz Rx's.

I purchased the Futaba FP-TP-FM 36 MHz Module including a Tx crystal (Type 36-1), two 36 MHz Rx's (Hyperion) and crystals.

Is changing the Tx frequency just a matter of swapping the Module out of the back of the 9C and using a 36 MHz Rx on the same channel?

I have done this but get no response at all from the servos plugged into the Rx.

I have NO trouble with the std 72MHz Module and Berg Rx's. What to try next?

Please advise
Jeff.

With the Futaba 9C transmitter, changing channels or even frequency bands, you only have to swap out the transmitter module. If the crystal you have is designated for a Futaba Fm transmitter, then you should be OK. Make sure the receivers are on the same channel. It is possible that the receivers just aren't compatible with the 9C transmitter. Some non-Futaba receivers have difficulty working with Futaba transmitters.

Thanks Bill for your help on both questions.

I am using Hyperion Rx in 36Mhz (trying). I have used Berg Rx's in 72 Mhz without problem or glitch for 3 years now.

Futaba need to make small, light 4, 5, 6 channel Rx's for foamies and micro helis.

RE: 9C - change from 72MHz to 36 MHz

SUCCESS - IT WORKS!!!!

I purchased another set of crytals in Guangzhou for the Tx and Rx and they work.

Converting a Futaba 9C from 72 Mhz to 36 Mhz is just swapping out the module, making sure the crytals match and the Rx is good.

It looks like the mini crystal was faulty AND a Rx crystal does NOT work in a Tx. I will purchase a Futaba Tx crystal and match up the crystal sets of the various channels and frequencies.

Thanks Jeff
