9C - changing slider reference

I have an Ultra stick 60 - Quad flaps and a 9C Super radio. Being a newbie with the radio, I was able to setup the crow and continuous ailerons (as outlined in the FAQ #40). It took a lot of trial and error but surprisingly it all works. The part I can't seem to get is moving the slider zero reference and still be able to use the flaps as continuous ailerons. I called FUTABA assistance - the gentleman tried - but wasn't able to help. He suggested just follow the instructions. I have tried removing the linkage and moving the slide to one end (FAQ #40 - step 10) but I'm obviously missing a step as the flaps must now be moved electrically to align with the ailerons. At this point I only have downward flap movement and no upward.

I'm hoping that someone else at FUTABA can provide some detailed instructions on this procedure.

RE: 9C - changing slider reference

Generally, to set up a complex aerobat such as the Ultra-Stick, you'd want to use glider programming. There are built-in functions for aileron-flap mixing and flap-aileron mixing. Otherwise, you have to use several of the pmixs to do the job:

aileron-->flap 1
aileron-->flap 2
flaps-->aileron 1
flaps-->aileron 2

You'd turn on, switch null, trim and link on, and adjust percentages to get the correct direction and amount of movement. Set flaps to the desired slider in the AUX menu, and you should be able to get what you want.

Bill,
is there a FAQ for setting up a 4 servo Ultra Stick using glider mode?
And does glider mode still give throttle control and all?

RE: 9C - changing slider reference

The glider programs have the ail->flp, and flp->ail mixing built in, as well as 'butterfly' (crow). The throttle stick still operates the same channel as before, channel 3.

RE: 9C - changing slider reference

Bill,

Thank you for the help, but you suggest a complete new setup that is different from the FAQ version for quad flaps. I really didn't want to redo the entire program - all I was requesting was how to perform step 10 of FAQ 40 to move the slider to the up position and still be able to use the flaps for continuous ailerons. Everything else works fine.

I can activate the left slider (Vr-D) and with the slider in the middle of its range - can get the flaps to go full range both up and down. By disconnecting the linkage at the flap servos and moving the slider to the up position (toward antenna) and reinstalling the linkage in the neutral position - the flaps now only go down (if I move the slider) which is what I want. However, when I activate continuous ailerons, the flaps will track downward with the ailerons but will not go up - pass neutral.

By step 10 being in the FAQ it seems to imply that I should still be able to get the continuous ailerons after moving the slider and flap linkage.

I believe Krista worked on this setup in previous posts.

Sorry to drag this out.
