Replacing the antenna with "Rubber"

Hi,
One more thing,

What is the policy on replacing the standard telescoping metal

antenna with an aftermarket short rubber-coated antenna?

Is there any performance difference, & would you recommend

such a change?

Thank you & best of the holiday season to you and yours!

Wahoo,
Happy to assist.

No, aftermarket transmitter antennas are against FCC regulation unless they are made by the manuf and type accepted with the radio. They are not recommended.

Why not

Thanks again for your quick reply, but why are rubber antennas

not recommended?

Thank you,

Wahoo,
It is against FCC regulation to change any transmitter antenna to anything which is not factory approved AND type certificated with the radio. Youa re changing a transmission component, which is against FCC regulation and therefore illegal in the US.
