8UAF flap programming?

How do you program plain flaps? I want to use the switch 'C' for 2 position flaps-like up, 10 deg., 45 deg. I have one servo each side connected with a 'Y', and am plugged into ch 6. I can only get one movement. and it reverses between middle position and up and down. I did Pmix 1 and basically, at this point, I'm lost!

RE: 8UAF flap programming?

Just went through this for about three weeks!

I did not use a Y-cable, but I did use Switch C:

UP = flaps up
CNTR = flaps part way down
DOWN = flaps full down

I used the following PMIXs:

PMIX-1 mixed left flap ch7 to right flap ch8, 80%*

PMIX-2 OFS > ch7, -100%, Switch C UP, Link ON

PMIX-3 OFS > ch7, -50%, Switch C CNTR, Link ON

PMIX-4 OFS > ch7, +100%, Switch C DOWN, Link ON

PMIX-5 deactivated ch8 knob

* I had to reduce the % on the ch7 > ch8 mix to about 80% so that both servos had the same throw.

I also had to fiddle with NORM/REV on some channels to get it all right.

You could do the same thing with the Y-harness:

PMIX-1 OFS > ch6, -100%, Switch C UP

PMIX-2 OFS > ch6, -50%, Switch C CNTR

PMIX-3 OFS > ch6, +100%, Switch C DOWN

PMIX-4 deactivate ch6 knob

Good luck!

Paul

Thanks, Paul, let me give that a try. If the manual tell you how to do that, I can't find it. They spend so much time on mixing flaperons and elevators and all the exotic stuff, seem to miss the basics, IMHO!

RE: 8UAF flap programming?

HI wsmalley,

This should be easy to do with 2 Pmixes, the first one you will want to do is Offset as Master, channel 6 as slave, set this to the center position of your 3 position switch and make the rate 10%. Next do a 2nd Pmix again with Offset as Master, channel 6 as slave, set this to the down position of the same switch, and make the rate 40%.

At top position on your 3 position switch, you will have just normal flaps on your channel 6 knob, but with the switch in the center position, the flaps will drop 10% and in the down position, they will both drop 45%.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

RE: 8UAF flap programming?

Using the two Pmixes did the job. I didn't realize that each Pmix corresponds to a switch position. I set Pmix 1 on the center position of switch C with about 15%, and Pmix 2 for the down position with about 90%. The flaps are, of course 'up' in the switch C up position. Thanks, Bill S.
