I am building a 120 size Stinger, not going to be used for any type of 3D flying (not that it could anyway), and I'm flummoxed on what to hang on this thing for power. I have a couple 26cc engines on hand, but, at 11+ lbs weight, it wouldn't be enough oomph. I recall that a lot of guys used to use the Zenoah G38, but those are rather heavy. I've heard enough bad news about the CCRC Pro 40 crankshaft problems to steer clear of those. Perhaps a DLE 30 would be a good choice, I just don't know...

My Stinger 120 has the fuselage sides reinforced with 1/16th in. plywood, from the firewall to the wing trailing edge. I use it primarily for aero tow.
It has been flown with a Zenoah G38, a G45, and a G62. It flies the best with the G45.
I think it would be a great flyer with a lighter and more powerful Brisson 3.2 or Da50.
Keep it light and a DLE30 would probably make it an excellent Sunday flyer.

The stinger is a short nose moment airplane. The Dle30 would be a good choice power wise, but I think that nose weight would be needed. I flew mine with a G26, and it worked out perfect.

Yep....DLE 30 would be great but you will need to add nose weight I am sure. It would prob. offer the greatest flexibility in the future if you are going to be buying an engine for this plane. Those stingers (1.20 especially) have been powered by everything from big glow engines to converted weedeater/saw engines and pricey 40+cc types.
If built right, you could prob. get away without adding too much nose weight if you went with the DLE 30. Good luck!

Yes...I have the "Giant" 84" Stinger but don't be fooled, there is a big difference in the two in overall size and weight. Looking at only 4" difference in span is very misleading to those who have not seen both in person.
