I am not familiar with it, but it looks comparable to the Ultra Stick 60 that I fly with a DLE-20.

Yes, I saw that, but I have no info besides that. A 68 inch span is in the ballpark for the DLE-20.

Hey guys, Just a quick update, Put a few more flights on the WM P-51 today, fitted it with the MA classic 16x8. It was turning 8700 rpm's static, still slightly rich with 28-1 oil. It has good power and will do vertical with this ten pound plane until it specks out! I did have one dead stick as I was on final with full flaps[X(]! Helluva time to quit on me! It was my fault for not bumping up the low idle up a couple of clicks. But I was able to quickly put the nose down, pull up my flaps and get her to the runway in one piece! Then I had another dead stick when running out of Fuel!![:@] That's what happens when you thought you filled it up! I still had about a 15 minute flight on about 4-5 ounces of fuel, amazing! Getting pretty good at dead sticking the P-51 though!lol
I have noticed that at 3/4's to full throttle, it sounds like the ignition is cutting out for a split second every now and then. Any thoughts on that?? I am running it about 200 rpm below peak rpm on the high needle.
I am using 87 octane with the dang ethanol blend. Ive heard it is better to get gas with no ethanol, supposedly runs better? Any truth to that? Think I'll try some with my next gallon.
A 16x10 will be spinning on the dle20 after break-in , will get you some numbers when I get them.

Till next time, Mikeeee

See if the new Green Hornet dolls are out yet! Twister looks great, my local hobby shop has a couple of the 150 size ones on clearance right now. All put together too ready for engine and radio! I'm gonna see what he wants for them!

vinmech, its good to know you got a 15 minute flight out of 4 or 5 oz of fuel. Because the carb is up close to the hole in the firewall in my Hurricane, I don't want a tank that blocks the hole. Largest tank I can use is an angle front tank of 12 oz. From what you say that should be plenty. My Hurricane weights right at 9.5 lbs. This engine should have more than enough power. I'm going to be using the same Graupner 15-8 Three Blade that I used with the OS 120 FS that I took out. With that prop the 120 maxed out static at 8,440 rpm and richened up for flight about 8,250. It had plenty of power and flew great, it just left an oily mess and used gobs of expensive glow fuel. Seems like I could go through almost a gallon in an afternoon.

I hope I don't get as much dead stick practice as you. Thanks for the info.

Received on Friday a Phoenix EDGE 540 90-120 to install my DLE 20. The only mod needed was to fit the engine inverted instead of the original inclined position. The model quality is excellent as well as the covering (oracover). The next one will be an already on hand BH GLASAIR 120 for my second DLE 20.  Any help in order to post photos?

regards
George

Right here......
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=2629917

Also; RCU has been having server problems for 2 months, so upload ONE photo, OK it, OK again and see the post with first photo.
Now, go to upper right hand corner of YOUR message you just posted, and click on "EDIT" and upload another photo.

Repeat as needed, until finished.
Doing them one at a time will ensure they display correctly.

That's how I did mine in this posting;

The engine carb is removed in order to verify the correct position. After installation of engine's mount with blind nuts, the firewall will be cut to accept the carb as the distance from firewall to prop flangeis only 128 mm.

You're welcome!
Good photos too!

If you would, post photos of your choke & throttle linkage setups....when you get to that point.
It's often asked for by others.

I have been flying only 50cc birds since I decided to go all gas. I still have a few glow planes in the hanger that I want to convert to gas now that we have this nice array of small gassers available. My question is What engine do you experts recommend for my Goldberg Sukhoi. it is the MX2 kit that weighs just under 11 pounds with a saito 150. 73" wing 950 inches of wing area. I fly very spirited with some hovering - rolling harriers ETC ETC. my first thought was the dle 30 but there seems to be alot of good coming from the DLE 20. Help I can't afford to buy both to try each.

Take a look at Valley View hobbies or other websites and you'll see they are offering combo packages of planes with 73" wingspans paired with a DLE-30. This is probably your best engine for the spirited type of flying that you do. I don't think a DLE-20 would give you the performance you are looking for. Also, the DLE-30 is marginally more expensive than the DLE-20! Just my two cents worth.
