High idle hang I believe is what its called. A search may help you to resolve that.

It looses transition if I touch the LSN. It right now is a fine balance between LSN and HSN. Its that damned idle step in the ignition thats giving me fits. When it isnt high stepping it idles nice and slow.

This engine has one of the early 4.8v modules? If so, and it's the module causing your headache, you can cure that by lowering your idle speed a little. That "step" is at about 2200 rpm. If your normal idle is on the high side, say 1900-2000 or maybe 2100, it might get stuck briefly while coming down through 2200. Then you might experience what you're thinking of.

Otherwise, it's most likely that lean "idle hang" thing the guys above are suggesting. Could be either issue, but they're both easy to tune around if you understand both and how to tune around them. -Al

A slightly rich low-end will mitigate the step in transition to idle and will have a minimal impact on the transition to high speed.

I tried tuning it out with the needles. 1/16th of a turn either way on either needle and the engine runs like crap. I had a problem with keeping it running the other day, up until then it ran great for a dozen flights. I changed out the plug and it seemed better, but it took a little needle movement to keep it running at idle, then it seemed to be OK, and idled down right, on the ground, in the air though it was a different story. I honestly think it is just at the point of being fully broken in and I may need to readjust my linkages a bit. I have the throttle stop as far as it will go on the servo, so no trim is left. I may end up getting a new module though that runs at 7.4 volts so I can use a LIFE to drive it instead of the NiMh. Save about an ounce in weight.

Wow, that Phoenix Sbach has me tempted to switch from my Extra 330S 60-90 for my DLE 20.

acdii - LiFe conversion a good plan. If it's your first, you're gonna love it!

Pete - look at the weight....

I had that problem before with many gasoline engines. When the weather changes - usually when it gets hot you have to richen the low needle a little to slow down the idle. Get rid of the big low end adjustment screw with the pointed end and a spring on it, so you can get full control of the throttle activation. I just completely cut of the mount that screw sits on to get rid of the extra weight. That screw is only good for Lawn care equipment.

Maybe a engine with electronic fuel injection would do away with all the adjusting for idle down, mid range burble, going rich or lean in aerobatic flight...ect will be a thing of the past. I sure hope so.

You could do it now, but the size and weight of all the associated "stuff" required to do it right, well, I don't think we're going to see EFI in many 20cc planes for a while yet....

It will be nice though if it becomes a feesable reality. Adjust fuel in flight?

That's not a bad price for a 62 CC with EFI. How are the evolution engines? I've never had one.

Good question, I am considering a 10 or 15 CC for the SIG T-Clips 70

The 10 is a little picky on it's needle settings early on, but after that it's awesome...

Call me crazy, but I'm considering throwing a 20 on a hanger 9 twist 60! Think it will fly? I've seen people who put a 15 cc on one, so why not a 20? I believe it's just as heavy as my super sky bolt with a 20. Watcha think? Crazy?

So, I'll take that as a " go for it " from you? Btw, I should say that I have a DLE 20 on the shelf, not being used. And a twist 60 that has been sitting on the shelf for three years now that I don't fly. If the twist ends up in the dumpster, I really won't be heart broken. In fact, it would make some much needed room. So, nothing lost.

Thinking about getting a warbird for my DLE 20 RA. Any suggestions? I figure any 60 sized plane will do. Just wondering what "the community" has or suggest. I don't have a preference really. If I had to say what like best it would be between the P51 and Corsair.
Thanks,
Alvin

No warbird experience at all. Not scared either lol. If you look at my previous post in this thread I built a 60 sized super chipmunk with a DLE 20. The super chipmunk has similar specs as far as wingspan and wing area goes. I have assembled a B25 for a friend with twin .46 engines but I didn't fly it. I like the top flite P40 but it says "temporarily unavailable". I also like the looks of the Hangar 9 P 51 but I read the reviews on Horizons site and they are not good as far as the planes flying characteristics. Anything I'm missing? I never was into warbirds but I am getting the itch.
As far as flying experience goes I currently have 10 planes ranging from park flyer to a 35% Yak and fly usually twice a weekend.

Alrighty then, sky's the limit. Mustangs are sweet, but can be a handful on the ground, corsairs are real good flying planes, but when it comes to a great flying warbird that has no bad habits what so ever, and can tear up the sky when you want to, the P 47 is the way to go. I've never had a P40 so I have no offering there. My personal fave is the corsair. All will be great with a DLE 20.

Plus one for the P-47. A real sweetheart to fly and land. The Top Flite ARF's are great.
