Thanks Steve. Decisions decisions lol. Looking at Hangar 9 I'm not sure why the P47 is so much more expensive than the P51 considering the P51 comes with spinner and manual retracts and the P47 doesn't come with either. Also with Top Flite the P47 is the priciest by far.

Now the Hangar 9 P47 is also the largest of the 60 size warbirds with the largest wing area. BUT it's the most expensive plus I'd have to add another $250 for the retracts and struts.

I never worry about price if its something I really want, just still a little on the fence on this one.

Anyone here have any input on the Top Flite warbirds? Hangar 9 has some very informative reviews right on their website where Tower Hobbies doesn't.

Thanks again

I am thinking of one on a Revolver 70 and another on a 60 size Escapade seems like a good match for a Hot sport plane

It has been done already but that won't make it any less fun or sound any less cool

P-51 is a good candidate, however, it tends to nose over on taxi, and has a habit of snap rolling if you are not careful on the stick. Other than that nice flying plane(Top Flite ARF). I am putting one in a TF Kit Corsair, should be a nice flyer, and I missed out on the P-47 from H9, should have bought it when I saw it, it had a $50 off rebate too.

I have a DLE20RA in my Seagull 81" WS giant scale PT-19, and it flies nice scale maneuvers with plenty of power. In the process of replacing the electric motor in my Seagull Mew Gull with another DLE20RA. I had a G110 motor on 9S in it and it flew well, but I got tired of buying and charging batteries so it's going gas.

This winter I will scratch-build a 60" NotForSale with a DLE 20 in the front. I plan on a one-piece design for light weight and strength. I'll try to post pictures if I can.

The thread is about airplanes equipped with a DLE 20, which this aircraft does not have.

These are not pictures of my rc91. I can take a picture of the kit in the box, and the dle 20 in the box if it makes you feel better.
As you are so keen to point out the title is "What aircraft are you installing a dle 20..., not "What aircraft have you installed a dle 20.

Maddux99, could you post more pics and specs for this plane. It looks neat and I may be interested in getting one for my next DLE 20 installation. Will your friend ship to TX?

Yes, I think he will. He had a website, but he had to let it go due to the economy. He is still kitting this model though and it is a great flier. It was originally designed for an OS95AX (as is seen in the pic), but he has built a dle20 and an electric version too. I don't have any pics of his gas model but I'll see if I can't get him on here and show off his.

I apologize to everyone else for my short tempered response a few posts ago, I was having a bad day yesterday and that smart alec reply didn't set well with me (still doesn't). I could have included more info in my first post though and I take responsibility for that.

I hope to get started on the build of my kit in the next week or so, but I have a DLE61 that had been giving me fits and I have to get that straightened out first. I have the pictures of the model I pictured because I am going to copy his scheme on mine when I get it finished. Those are the only pictures I have of this model on my computer right now.

I have a link to a youtube video of this plane but it is all glow flight and doesn't belong in this thread. I'll PM you the link.

After flying a FG-11 Saito 4stroke Gas, I may reconsider the use of the DLE 20 now. The DLE is a bugger to get dialed in some days, you think its tuned well, fly it for a day, then a week later, its running like crap. The Saito, I have not touched it since the first flight, and I have over a dozen on it now since I got it last month. Makes me want to swap the 20 off the 4* with the FG-21 now.

Maddux99,
If the plane was designed for a 90 2 cycle, wouldn't the DLE 20 be a bit under powered for the plane?

Not really. DLE 20 will pull a 16x8 or 17x6 pretty nicely

No, a DLE20 is roughly equivalent to a 120 2 stroke glow. It is heavier than a 90 as well. I have seen him fly his on the 20 and it has crazy power. He said that you can feel the extra weight compared to the glow but it still flys great.

I may have started a deal where I will wind up with a finished DLE powered RC91 soon.

I put a DLE 20 on a DRASTIK 60. On a 16x6 prop, it puts out about 12.5 pounds of thrust on a 8.4 pound air frame. It is the best flying stik that I have ever flown. The engine has a Bowman ring and the reed valve has been trued. It has really crazy power even at 5500 feet elevation. At Texas RC Planes there is a video about the Drastik with the DLE 20. That convinced me to buy the Drastik and put the DLE 20 on it.
