Biela loads up an engine pretty good. Unless it's tuned right and has good cooling you mind find the engine bogging down after a little bit of flying.
For real fast spool up look at a 22-1, which is on the light side of prop loading. A less agressive 23-8 should work real good. Something line a Menz, or Xoar and PAU laminated props. NX would be another very good choice.

RE: DLE 55 PROP SIZE
i had a xoar 23-8,vess 23-a,mezjlik 22-8,but the very best so far is the xoar 22-8 laminate.
just yanks the plane out of a hover, puts the engine in the 7500 rpm range, very nice.
all on a DLE 55.
if you try the mezjlik 23-8 let us know how it goes, thats one that i would like to try,i am just guessing but it should put it in the 7000 range.

Falcon Carbon Props should be out soon, we tested them at FX3D
The 22x10 and the 23x9 both work very well on my Pilot RC Yak and SBach with a DLE 55 and Pitts muffler.
Bob's Hobby Center in Orlando will be carrying them when they come in, give them a call to check availability.

I have directly compared a Mejzlik 23X8 carbon fiber XOAR 22X8 laminated and XOAR 23X8 beechwood, same plane, same engine, same day. AeroWorks Extra 260QB, DA50, 17.5lbs, 98F, 84% relative humidity. The Mejzlik is a little faster and more consistent in IMAC type flying, the XOAR 23X8 pulls out of a hover just a bit faster and I preferred the XOAR 23X8 more all around. The XOAR 23X8 torque rolls the most, the Mejzlik next and the 22X8 the least in a hover. All three are good props and the XOAR beechwood is as close to indestructible as you can get. (The NX and Menz are very good in that department as well.) The VESS is by far the easiest to break. (Of all the props I've used)

Yes! I like Vess performance on a Dle55 23xB all around performer. I had a 22A and, not enough prop for the 55, it was taching at 8600. The 23B is 7450. yes, they are fragile props.

Don`t know, if your plane and engine are still in the air.... I have a DLA58 on my machine. I run it with a simple ZGR canister muffler, no tuned pipe. The dry weight is exactly 8 kilogramm.
I tested different props on it. Still wondering, how strong the czech brand "Fiala" performs at very low noise level. These are wooden props, that come balanced staticly from the firm. I tested the dynamic balance of a fiala 24x10 and the most expensive engel supersilence carbon, same size.
Mounting the props on an electric motor originally working in your car as a ventilator. Holding the motor in my hand while running the props at idling speed of our engines more or less. My hand began shaking with the carbon prop that costs about 3 times more than the fiala. With the czech brand my hand kept quiet!!!
Some RPM-Numbers also realistic for your DLE55
Fiala 24x8 6700 rpm Fiala 24x10 6470 rpm
I ran the 24x8 for about 30 liters of fuel, but the 24x10 is working more efficient even out of the torque roll or hover. The speed in vertical climbings is also higher for our lightweight models......I have also a 23x10, but the blades are obviously more narrow, compared to the 24". And there is absolutely no need to reach 7000 rpm, running the prop far away from the best efficiency.
You can order many prop-sizes now from Toni Clark, but Fiala also offers two coloured versions, black with yellow and white with red tips. They speak english, you can pay by paypal and they will produce any special prop-size for you quite cheap and fast.
You can be sure, I don`t get paid for telling you this
greetings Hanspeter

Well, constructing this machine in the beginning of 2013, I would have been glad, to come out with 9 kilogramms. Keep in mind, that the wingspan is 2,34m and the length 2,20m, profile 16% thick, fully symetric. 23,4x3,9 makes a wing aeria of 91,26dm2...... It has now finished two flying seasons with many public events and working as a sailplane-lifter. Never had in mind, to do this job one day, but nevertheless designed my first ....don`t know, what you guys call this....where you lock or unlock the pulling-cable....
hope, the moderator will not kick my ass, posting too many things beside the theme..........
Santa Claus??? Guess, ur talking about my transmitter with the pink belt on the table....... the colour is no reason for certain speculations.........

The piped DLE was set-up with a Mejzlik 20x12 carbon 3 blader up front turning a bit more than 6800 at FT which was practically never needed of course. On my soft mount, not only was it "powered just right", it was whisper quiet.
Alas, a bad Spektrum RX killed that one. The crash was outrageous too....LOL.... My grandson who witnessed it still talks about it 3 years later

Hi Matt, this is quite a lot of stress, mounting a big single engine to an electric model. But I guess you, enforced the critical sections in the fuselage. So did I in the Pitts Python. Wingspan 1,37m, engine Zenoah 20cc. Still flying this monster with wet hands. Think, it was a Goldwing product.

Hi eliminator, some say leggo others talk about Fischer Technik or mecano. Many of the people told me, I must be a mechanic. And this is the truth... worked as an industrial mechanic.
Puppy chew??? Maybe you talk about an emergency repair on the right elevator. Was flying in CZ last year and a turbulence grabbed the machine while landing. Had pulled the elevator to the max, so the aerodynamic compensator touched the ground and broke off.
Went to the next supermarket to buy some glue and scotch tape. Had no oracover or a sealing iron with me. Still flying around like this.
easy to operate, when you can pull out the complete steel wires from every control surface
