Default DLE 20 better exaust

I`m thinking of a better DLE 20 exaust, I recently purchaced to replace a ys110, I only wish to have the best results and if possible without too much noise
I have seen some older posts of some guys making a DIY beer can mufler, but I think it`s for bigger engines... or not?
Thanks in advance

Daniel,

Here's a starting point for you....

from Macs Products:

I do make a header that will fit. The exhaust port is a little bit smaller (21.50mm
wide & 9.90mm high) but the screw holes are the same. Its the #2985, #2986 or
#2987 these are made for the YS.91 SR motor so they have a 7/8" tube just the
size for your motor

While the subject was brought up about Macs pipes.... I've used Macs exhausts quite a bit on my smaller nitro engines. I've been wondering??? On engines like the JBA 15cc, would a Macs pipe work ok with it? I have a 60-90 size P-40 that has a Irvine with a Macs pipe and would like to replace it with a JBA-15cc. The existing fit would be perfect with very little to no mods. Has anyone had any experience of using a nitro engines exhaust on a smaller gasser? How would the performance and practical operations be?

I fitted a Weston UK Aerobatic Mini pipe to my DLE 20 today. Only ran it up on the ground then I had to head of too work.
Flying it tomorrow. Sound is definately muffled and theres an extra 450rpm on the tacho compared to the std muffler with engine turning a JXF16x8. Fuel is probably getting old too. Will tach it again on the next batch.

reliability... well we'll see tomorrow

from the westonuk.co.uk website

VPMAP.3 AEROBATIC MINIPIPE 1.08 - 1.20 SIZE ENGINE (APPOX 200MM) £45.91

from Just Engines:
Genesis Aerobatic Mini Pipe 1.08 - 1.20

Its claimed to be a fit and forget. I tried it at various lengths and indeed it appears header length does not affect the set up at all.

Well I've confirmed the Weston UK Aerobatic Mini pipe works well.
The draw back is it and the header adds about 200gr to the all up weight which is not ideal.
If the TBM muffler damper works I'd be keen to try it out since the suppplied muffler is very light.

I'll be placing the Spot On on a diet to claw back some of the weight it's gained.

The muffler damper will decrease the sound level about 5 db points at 10 ft., my tests showed 94 db with it installed and 99 db without, using a SY 17x8N prop. Down side was a 450 RPM drop at WOT.

If you want to quiet your gas engines, Go to New DLE 20 thread, page 44 post 1081, and 1097.
I discribed how I quieted my 20CC, and 30CC Gas engines. There is also pictures showing how to do it.
I am still using this method today and everybody says than a pitts muffler. By the way I see no lost of power
or RPM.

The thread is on the engine's main page further down than this one. It is called, "DLE 20cc Gasser ( Data & Links 1st post)".
