Front of cylinder on the base 44ZN 18 W4
Number on front of cylinder on bypass bulge 30 and below that ++44
The rear of the cylinder along the base says "MAHLE" and I didn't remember that being on there.
The fins have the distinctive rounded off corners typical of Taurus engines. I don't remember exactly when I bought this engine but I'm guessing 2004 or before and certainly not after 2005. Other than the fins it looks just like any other 3.2 Sachs cylinder I have seen .... but I'm really getting a bad case of CRS disease lately so my memory probably doesn't account for much any more!

RE: Brison 3.2
I don't know if the cylinders all came the same and Bill O. modified them or like Ralph and TOM suggested, maybe they were factory modified for different saws. I would certainly be curious to know the real answer. It might be worth a call to Bill O. just to satisfy that curisoity!! Darn good engine thats for sure.

I just got one of my old mechanical advance 3.2 Brisons back yesterday. The guy sold the plane it was on and the engine was given to him to fly it. 9 years old with compression as good or better than new. Plus it was just a skosh lighter all up than the original DA 50's. Still nothing wrong with a Sachs engine.

I notice that my Taurus has a single ring piston and the Walker Sachs has a 2 ring piston, Both have the same cylinder with the exception of the rounded fin on the Taurus.
