Fiji Water Bottles for Fuel Tanks
Where do you guys buy Fiji water to use for your fuel tanks. I'm in the Dallas area and you'd figure I'd be able to find some but so far I haven't seen them in any of the convenience stores around there.
I'd like to have a few of the 330ml and 500ml for DLE 20 and DLE 30 fuel tanks.

The 330l smallest ones ARE difficult to find, but try Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart.
Sam's Club if you're a member.
Other similar bottles are sometimes found filled with other stuff, like mouthwash, and juice drinks.
Look around at those various stores for similar sized bottles.

True, they will work fine but the Fuji bottles are rectangular in shape and that makes them easier to secure inside the model as opposed to a round shaped bottle.

Just put a piece of velcro on the botom and a tie wrap to hold it. Not going to move...
Hey gang, BTW- I have found nylon fittings finally for this assembly. About half the cost of the metal fittings. Any one interested send me a PM.

Another good tip on the Fujii bottles;
When you buy a new one with water still in it, BEFORE you open it, make two alignment marks from cap-to-bottle.
Do your 'mods' and when finished and ready to seal it up, do NOT tighten beyond those alignment marks!
This will keep the cap from splitting (some have from being over tightened).

Responses to PM's are bouncing back. Apparently RCU is not allowing some PM replies to be posted

And, I've been to all the places you have listed already and no joy.
Does anyone seal them with a little some RTV silicone like Ultra black or copper?

I looked for quite a while for the 330ml bottles too; finally found some at a convenience store recently and bought 3! I've made and used 2 of the 500ml bottles already on 50cc gassers; I like them a lot. Easy to see clunk/tubing condition, and lighter than standard tanks too!

I'll hafta check those 8oz ones at Costco out next time I'm there! Wanting to build something with a DLE20 this spring, and that's about the right size bottle for a good flight and not a bunch of extra dead weight in fuel...

Available at many auto parts stores and Wal-Mart.
Use the least you need and be quick about assembling.
Do NOT use any silicone based sealants, as already noted!
Also, follow my procedure outlined in Post #9.

That stopper is a nice piece, but by the time you've paid for the item and shipping it's almost as expensive as an already assembled Fortitude tank. By the time you buy fittings for the water bottle tank it will actually be more expensive than the Fortitude. I'm not sure what the appeal is?

I have set up several Fiji water bottle gas tanks. I've always modified a combination of Sullivan and Dubro parts to make the stopper assemblies. They work out very nice and hold up well.
My experience with modifying the better name brand weed whacker and chainsaw engines to be model airplane engines make a much superior engine to any of the current Chinese offerings with their "as cast" cylinder bores and bearing pockets. My favorites are Stihl, Kioritz/Echo, Makita/Dolmar, and Husqvarna/Zenoah.
