Default Short Hub Needed for G38

Hey guys anyone know where I can get a hub cut for a Zenoah G38? I need one 1.25 inches long.

Thanks

Horizon got out of the short hub business several years ago.

Unfortunately, you will have to look for a used one.

There is a basic design flaw in all the Horizon hubs for the Zenoah's in that they have a steel bolt threaded into the aluminum hub that is removed/replaced every time you change a prop.

Be smart and put a stud in the hub with a nut on the front. You'll never have hub trouble again,.

Another tact would be to use a case-saver or heli-coil to act as an interface between the alum. hub and steel bolt. VW's had a real problem with the cylinder bolts stripping out of the alum. case when hot-rodded. The go-to was to use case-savers which were steel inserts that were screwed into the alum. case and then the cylinder bolts screwed into them. Kept everything happy and un-stripped.

Well I found the answer to my need for a short hub. Sierra Gear owner Darrell Tenny is cutting one for me, he also has other hubs for other engines for those that may need this type of modification.

Happy Flying!

Set it up with a stud or else use a steel thread insert?
