I had to replace the Cylinder in my CRRC26i as the small end bearing failed and fragments scored the cylinder wall. I cant get the engine to run after replacing the cylinder. The compression feels very low. My electric starter will spin the engine up quite fast and I can hear it firing, it sounds almost like its idling but stops as soon as I take the starter off. Anyone know what might be wrong?

I replaced the piston ring, ran it on the ground for 3 hrs and it seemed fine. Then it started getting harder to start, first it would fire but would not stay running unless it was started at about 1/2 throttle, now it wont run at all, fires up sometimes and quits after about 2 secs. With the carb off I can hear a little air getting past the piston ring during compression, is this normal or should the ring seal completely? The compression seems fine.

New NGK plug, not Chinese? I have a small collection of Chinese spark plugs that are junk. Why 3 hours on the ground? They break in much better in the air. Good luck. Wait, you've already got the "luck of the Irish"!
