Default *Pennzoil Availability*

I am unable to find Pennzoil air cooled 2 cycle oil locally anymore. Advanced Auto Parts use to sell it but now they have went to Craftsman 2 cycle oil. I can find it online at 3 times the price plus shipping. Not going to happen. Anyone else that uses Pennzoil having a problem finding this oil?

I thought the real, original formula "Pennzoil for Air Cooled Engines" was sold to Shell and re-marketed as AeroShell Sport 2??

Maybe I can clarify a bit. Pennzoil has been owned by Shell for many years now and both Pennzoil and Shell oil products (along with several other brands) are produced in this country by a company called SOPUS products. SOPUS stands for Shell Oil Products US I believe. SOPUS stopped producing the Air Cooled Pennzoil formula several years ago so any around is still old inventory. At that time they acknowledged their loyal Ultra Lite 2 stoke following and suggested that Pennzoil users switch to the then fairly new AeroShell Sport Plus 2 formula which was said to be almost identical to the traditional Pennzoil Air Cooled formula but with some improvements. This was fairly widely covered at the time in trade publications. The Sport Plus 2 formula is quite widely available from many on-line sources, aviation oil suppliers, etc.

Now there is a new twist! Recently AeroShell announced in some countries that due to low demand, the Sport Plus 2 formula was going to be discontinued. I'm not sure if this applies to the USA or not as I have not researched the subject. AeroShell in Europe was now recommending a Shell synthetic oil intended for motorcycles. Not sure where the story goes from here but at least there's some food for thought and further research.

Edit: Checking the AeroShell website, they no longer show the Sport Plus 2 product. Several online sources still sell the oil and here is a link to one of them. Like Pennzoil Air Cooled, I'm sure there will be product in the warehouses for some time to come.

Some sources have suggested that Quaker State 2 stroke oil is very similar to the old Pennzoil formula and is another SOPUS product.
