Default DJ 72 cc mounting question

Is it mandatory to mount this engine using the provided stand offs or is it OK to install directly on the firewall (with a hole to allow for the carburettor)?
Pros and cons of either method?

Mounting the engine directly on the firewall would be fine and even preferable if it can be done that way. Standoffs are a convenient way of mounting the engine when you want to space the whole engine and carb away from the firewall. Mounting directly to the firewall would be a stronger and more solid mount where standoffs add some flexibility to the mount and engine. It’s always good to keep standoffs as short as possible. Years ago it was unheard of to mount an engine on standoffs. These days it’s pretty much the standard mounting method and has proven to work quite well.

If u mount directly to firewall, how will you access the needles to tune engine?

The mixture adjustment screws can be accessed with a screwdriver through a hole in the engine box side (with cowl removed).
Anyway, at this size I may eventually decide on a twin cylinder.
