Default What is the new bright shiney finish on DLE engines

I am currently in the market for a new DLE engine but am quite curious as to what gives them their new bright and shiney looking finish. Is it simply a coat of paint or is it a machined finish from the manufacturing process ?

It is a coating of some kind. Perhaps a high temp powder coat? Solvents such as acetone do not touch it so it is very resistant to harsh chemicals. I didn't like it at first but adjusted to it over time. I think they started doing that coating about 3 years ago and my engines with the bright appearance have held that appearance since new so I actually like it now. One thing for sure, it isn't just bare, as cast or polished aluminum.

I've started to see a similar appearance on some other Chinese engines recently.
