Why no ZDZ 80's for sale?
Why do I not see many used ZDZ 80's for sale? Is it because these engines are no good? (I have heard complaints of overheating). Or is it because no one want to sell them because they are so good? I've been looking for a used but good ZDZ 80 w/ pitts muffler for some time now with no luck. Anyone know hwere I might find one?

I have two, and if you have heard anything but good about these engines it's bull ! Only way they will run hot is if you use the wrong oil mixture or don't have them installed correctly.
The reason you don't see them for sale is becaust those of us that run them love them.
Now I also have a ZDZ-100 boxer that is out of this world.

A competitive mfgr once told me these engines were a piece of crap not worthy of consideration as competition to his engines.

I've never heard anything bad about them in talking with my flying buddies, they have a good hold on the 70-90cc gas engine range, the only threat I see is if DA comes out with the 75 that is being speculated..

If I cannot find one used and need to buy new, what pitts muffler would you suggest? I will be putting it on a H-9 Sukhoi.

I have a New IN Box ZDZ-80 RV ready to sell that I just bought at the Feb 2004 WRAM show.
I do NOT need the engine, so you can purchase it through me if you'd like
$600 and I'll ship it to you for free. (You'd spend at least $665 thru RC SHowcase)
The motor hasn't even been out of th eplastic bag it comes in !!!!
Let me know.
Steve Beach
P.S. Only selling cuz I have a H9 Cap with one in it. I have a 2nd H9 Cap 90% ready with one in it.
There's no need for the 3rd one. PLUS, I can use the cash to fund the remaining items I need for the backup ship.

I helped put a new piston ring in a ZDZ 50. It looked well built. The only thing I did not like is how the sparkplug shield was done. That may be updated by now. Best Regards, Capt,n

Just read your post about the absence of ZDZ 80's for sale. I actually have one, with a pitts muffler and I'm interested in selling.
I purchased this used several years ago and never actually started it because I had to put my flying hobby aside for awhile. I am now re-energizing my rc flight hobby plans and the ZDZ 80 is simply too big for what I want to do.
If interested, I will send you some pictures. It comes with a prop, all the electronics, pitts muffler etc. Before I sell, I want to be sure it works, because now I have no idea. I've got a flying club member that has 3 ZDZ 80's (loves them by the way) and he is going to help me see if this thing runs. His first suggestion was to rebuild the Walbro Carb because it had been sitting around for so long. I'm happy to say, I was able to find the specific rebuild kit and have accomplished that step.
Next step, bring the engine over to my friends shop and see if we can get it cranked up.
If we are able to get it running, are you interested?

I realize this is an old thread, but I have a question reguarding finding air frames now days for this size engine.
I have a DA 85cc engine that is spectacular. It's not a gas guzzler. It runs awesome and I can cold start it with "ONE" flip.
What current 96" to 100" air frames are out there for this market?
