RE: Roto 25
I cut a hole large enough for the cap to 'just' go through, and fashioned a snug fitting plug that accomodated a rubber grommet the right size for the wire. Split the grommet, put around the wire, then stuff the plug into the hole.

RE: Roto 25
Raston, looking at your pictures I see that now. Good job as I had not noticed the "plug" before.
This is how I did it on my Christen Eagle so I guess good minds think alike
However I have seen pictures of some peoples planes and no plug is visible. I have to assume they desoldered the cap or something.
On my new GP giant stik I was lucky that it had a hatch plate on the bottom so all I had to do was cut a notch in the end of the plate to run the spark plug wire.
Had it not had this plate there was not a whole lot of space to drill a giant hole in the fire wall for the cap to fit through!
BTW, my Roto 25 is on this stik for now until I finish the spitfire. The 25 will come off the stik and be replaced by a 35.
The 25 fly’s this stik really well but it could really use a 35 for all out performance.

RE: Roto 25
Richard. L,
Thanks, your suggestion helped me much.
finless,
I installed the ignition module on the firewall with adhisive
tape, ignition battery is after the firewall in the fuselage.
I wanted to place the ignition module as far as possible
from the receiver and the C.G was just fine, and no big
hole was needed on the firewall.

Tsutomu, so engine heat has no negative effects on the ignition module?

No bad effects so far, for several flights though.
I made a relatively big hole under the cowl as an
air outlet. That may be working well.

Finless. your installation looks terrific. I think the Roto 25 is just what I need for my GP Ryan STM. Is that a bisson muffler you have installed? I need the narrowest engine/muffler package I can get.
Thanks, Yak

RE: Roto 25
Yak, it is SuperSonic I think. I got the engine with the muffler and the seller on RCU told me he got it from RCShowcase as an option so I assume that is what it is. However he told me it was a Slimline muffler and RCshowcase does not offer slimline for the ROTO 25. So which it is I am not sure. To me it looks like a Slimline as I have Slimline mufflers on other nitro engines. Still he said he got it from RCShowcase......
RCShowcase does not show a picture but the URL is here for the muffler they offer:
[link=http://www.rcshowcase.com/html/accessories/mufflers.html]http://www.rcshowcase.com/html/accessories/mufflers.html[/link]
Scroll to the bottom for ROTO 25 and it lists a SuperSonic.
When I check the Slimline web site I do not find the ROTO 25 listed but if it is a slimline then it must be the same bolt pattern as another engine they list.......
Slimline is here:
[link=http://www.slimlineproducts.com/]http://www.slimlineproducts.com/[/link]
Sorry I could not answer you properly but I am just unsure.

RE: Roto 25
I have been watching this thread for a while and taken bits of advice from many. i mounted my Roto 25 in a 1/4 scalt balsa USAFokker D8 picured here. Performance is spectacular, engine is smooth and power plenty for this 13Lb model. i used a steering arm for both throttle and choke, mounting the servos for both on the firewall. no interference issuse. i am spinning an 18x6 simitar prop which looks great and runs well. This is a fantastic engine. i am buying another one for my next scale project. i will then own two.. maybe a twin is in my future!!!!

RE: Roto 25
Roto 25 will pull the big H9 cessna very well. Ive seen them fly on everything for a G23 to a G45!!! It has at least as mouch power as a G26 and is a smoother running motor.

I am building the seagull van's rv8 I still haven't picked an engine for it. Should I go with dle 20ra or roto 25? It will be my first gasser. (weight is not a issue since the model requires nose weight even with a dle 30)
