Default ZDZ 40BS vs ZDZ 40RV ??

I just bought a ZDZ 40 off of RCU and once again being impatient I ask all the typical questions not realizing that there could be another ZDZ 40 version out there. Anyway I get the engine in the mail, take it out of the box, the engine looks great but the plate on the side reads...ZDZ40BS...ummm? So all you ZDZ guru's out there shed some light on the BS versions to the .......I assume newer RV versions.. Hope I havent bought a pig in a poke on here again due to my impatience and trying to save a $.[&o]

Unfortunately the BS has considerably less power than the RV. This engine has been discontinued quite some time ago. Unfortunately, buy in haste - repent at leisure.

Safe Flying!

I had the BS model once and I had a problem with it surging when trying to idle. It ran fine, other than the surge. Someone may correct me if I'm wrong but the BS model has a reed valve and the RV model is rotary vale, which is the better of the 2. I got rid of my BS and got the RV, it's a great engine.

All is not really lost though. If you send it in to Mike at RCS they can convert it for you.

RCS is long gone. Try Troy Built Models or AMR in Canada. I don't expect you will have much luck however.
