Default Webra Bully Questions? Pls Help

My first post.

I have a Webra Bully on glow. The engine appears to have low time, but I do not know the history. How do I tell if the carb is indeed the correct glow version. It is a Walbro. Also I have no instructions. What oil content should I use. I currently run my G-23 Glow on 5% oil and 15% nitro. Would this work for the Bully?

I have not tried to fire it yet. Any tips from some who have experience with a Bully glow.

Thx

Don

Same fuel will work fine...The carb is correct if you can richen it enough at high rpm to make it slow down....Less nitro will likely work just as well, and cheaper....

Do you have the instructions? It should call out a lower oil content (12%) and no more than 15% nitro. This is a low compression engine, however, you have bearings at the top and bottom so too much oil is a bad thing.

I have the instrcutions if you want a copy

Default Wanna sell it?

I just got a plane with a Webra Bully 35cc on glow. I am so impressed with this engine that I want another! This is one of the most powerful glow engines I have ever used. I am running a 20 X 8 APC prop and I am getting over 8000 RPM using Wildcat 5% nitro, 10% oil. The plane has unlimited vertical. I am really blown away by this beast!

Default 35cc bully

the webra bully runs on FAI fuel, (alky+oil) nitrated fuels will cause corrosion in the carb, unless you flush them out after running, best bet, put ignition on it and run gas + oil, I have one I run on gas, run's 8650 rpm w/18x8 I have not tried larger props yet, but it seem to be a very good engine for it's vintage.

Default gachezem, Thanks for the good advice

That is a new one on me. But, I have read that the engine is not as powerful when running gas. It will lose about 10% of power running gas.

Gchezem, How do you suggest that the carb be flushed and with what? It would be a good thing to know. Thanks for your advice. I would like to keep the new carb on this thing as clean as possible. I look forward to your reply.

Where can I get FAI fuel and which oil should I use? In other words, I have never mixed my own fuel. ANy advice would be great!

Default Webra Bully Questions? Pls Help

Thanks to all who posted on the Webra Bully. I would very much like to get a copy of the directions and specs. How could we obtain this from the person who said they would share?

Also, on the oil content. On my G-23 glow I mix my own fuel with 5% oil and 15% nitro. I use the Klotz synthetic oil. This brings my fuel cost down to $8/gall.

So, what does it say in the directions about the oil content for the glow Bully?

Thx

Don

Default Bully engines

How smooth running are the Bully engines. Are they smoother on gas or glow? Or same? Thanks Captinjohn

They run on gas, nitro and metho. You can change between a glow plug or a gas spark plug. The carb can be Walbro for gas or glow. They are very powerful. I am swinging a 20 X 8 @ 8300 rpm running 5% Nitro S-Tiger by Wildcat. Expect 10% less power on gas. Not sure what it is on Metho. Anyone? I understand they have bearings in the front and the back. I am no mechanic, but I understand it helps.

Very smooth motor.

Default Bully on ags/alky

As far as the difference between gas and Glo or alky, I think you would have a hard time telling the diff, Gas would have a little bit sharper Exhaust note, Glo fuel next, alky/oil the softest, Easyiest starter on gas/oil (also best slow idle) If you don't want to go ignition, there is really no reason to run nitro, except in maybe extreme cold condition's where an ignitor would be of help in idleing/starting, as far as power minene pull a BSA Phaeton/Bipe staight up forever (hvy14lb) take off's are lift off Go KE and climb out, rather impressive (I think) and seem's to run forever on
16 oz fuel.

Default Webra Bully Questions? Pls Help

Thanks Gary. Next time I see a Bully at a swap meet, I may come home with one. I have mixed my own fuel and used Klotz for the oil mix. How is the weather near you in Oregon? Snow and cold here in Mich. Take Care John 3:44 pm

Default Webra Bully Questions? Pls Help

John;

Ran my new Bully the other day on 5% oil and 15% nitro. It loved it and purred like a kitten. Very smooth engine. Very good throttle response with a Delorto carb.

Thx

Default Bully engines

Hellow W.M.Nut: Sounds like you got a nice engine there. If you can..... post a picture of it. I have seen the Delorto carbs on some other engine....but cannot remember what they look like. Is the carb made in Italy? Thanks John

Bisson says they don't make mufflers for the Bully. Anybody know if any current engines have the same port shape?

Default Webra Bully Questions? Pls Help

I have two webra Bully runnig on glow, I was using 7% Graupner synthetic oil and 0% nitro without problem, no rust. I am back in the Sates now and you can run on FAI fuel or Morgan7 fuel for Bully/Tartan.
You don't want more than 5% nitro and 7 to 8% oil, more nitro will wear out the engine fast. I am looking to make my own blend using powermaster or Wildcat and cutting it half with pure methanol.

hope this is of some help.

Default Webra Bully Questions? Pls Help

I can't find a BCM muffler for a Bully, a 3w-35, or a 3w-40. I am trying to buy a Bully that comes with a header and silencer but don't want to go to the trouble of cutting the fuse to install it. Any ideas???

Default muffler for Bully

A G38 muffler fit's the bully, but hard to find one that is really a muffler, most of them are pretty loud.
