Airframe for G26
Hi Guys,
Just wanted some opinions on a suitable airframe for a Zenoah G26. This is a stock engine with a Bisson muffler. I know that cubs and ugly sticks are usually recommended, but I was wondering if there was anything low wing and aerobatic that I could get (I'm not expecting 3D with this engine). I want something different from the norm. I was thinking about getting the Funtana 90. With the wing area and weight of this plane, even if it came is at 12lbs with the Zenoah it should still be a nice sport plane?? Any ideas and comments are appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
I put a G26 in a Cermark Sukhoi and it flew great. I have purchased a Goldberg Sukhoi as well and will put a G26 in it. The Cermark Pitts S2B is also a fantastic flyer with the G26 especially if you get it lightened and converted to IE.

Ralph... that is the shortest post I have ever seen you make!
Ralph can take your G26 and make it lighter with electronic ignition which works great for the planes I mentioned in my earlier post.

For whatever reason the whole post can't be completly deleted, it must have something in the text box...A period is as small as anything....
Anybody know why ?

The only thing I didn't like about the Cermark Sukhoi was the very soft and short landing gear. Didn't give you much room for a good 18" prop and they spread a little even with soft landings.

RE: Airframe for G26
Hi LK,
It will depend on the prop and muffler but I have seen 1800 and 8600 using a Mejzlik 18x6 a Slimline pitts muffler. Ralph, you may want to chime in here if your number using an Abell muffler are different. I'm not as good at tuning my carb and probably don't get all the power I could out of my G26.

No need to delete post...which seems impossible! Just EDIT it and change the wording a little or even a lot or add a funny photo. Anything will work!!!!! Should be able to PM moderator and ask him to delete if necessary. Best Regards Capt,n[:-]

Only 10,000 rpm I ever saw with an 18-6 was using a tuned pipe...
If yours indeed turns 10,000 with an 18-6 you have the best one ever sold, or a mismarked prop, or a "friendly" tach...
Funny thing about Master Airscrews, they seem to turn really fast;
A G38 will turn a MA 20-10 at 7000
A g62 will turn a 22-10 at 7300
Don't have a MA 18-6 to test G26s with...
