Brillelli or BCMA 26cc
I'm wanting to do a Twist 150 with a 26cc engine. I like what I've read while doing research on these 2 engines. What I can't decide though is which one to go with. The brillelli has alot more power according to the specs, but the BCMA is 9ozs lighter. The price difference isn't a big deal, so I just need to know if the 9ozs is that big of a difference. Or if there is something I'm not thinking of that I should consider.

I wouldn't hesitate to do business with Scott at Brillelli. He's a good guy, and stands behind his work. There are other engines that would work well, but not at that price range that include the ignition and muffler. If you can get your hands on a used Zenoah G26 that Ralph Cunningham has converted to EI, you'd have yourself a winner too.

The Brillelli has a lot more power and the specs are a tad lower than actual numbers.. you will find Brillelli usually posts lower numbers on the site then he actually gets.
Look at the benchmark props
BCMA JXF 16X8 @ 8200 rpm
Brillelli 16x8 @ 9600 rpm. I do know those numbers are on a Mejzlick which will prob spin a bit more than a JXF but I would say with a JXF you will probably still hit 9200 or so.

well of course horizon is recommending it with the Evolution 26.. add everything up and the Brillelli and e 26 are going to be at a very similar weight. Considering the wingloading is an est. 17oz I would say you will be fine. Its hard to tell what engine they are using for their specs though. Says 1.125-1.80 4 storke or 26cc gas.
I mean if you stick with glow you will be lighter hands down... but it has so much wing I dont think it will matter too much. A Saito 150 is going to be 32-33 oz alone.

Not to mention a big price difference between the evolution and the brillelli when you consider you still have to buy a muffler for the evolution.
I recently got my first gasser and I'm so spoiled, I'm making the switch from glow. So anything new I do is gonna be gas.

well I haven't played with Brillelli's new 26.. but I have owned 4 engines from Scott and always been happy. The new 26 has been in the works for a little while and it's def. a powerhouse. I am tempted to grab one myself and throw a pipe on it

crebulus.. just an after thought. There isn't 9oz difference between the 2 engines.. the Brillelli weight includes standoffs and prop bolt etc.. everything complete. I think you will find the true weight difference to be closer to 2 or 3 oz all said and done.
