g26 need airframe
I was hoping someone here can suggest a Nice looking..airframe (no STICKS) for a new never used g26(non EI) with Pitts muffler
I have had for over 8 year. I wanted something that could do good 3D(hover comfortably).I have contemplated on bolting it up to a old but new in the box Sig Cap 231Breitling ARF which has about:
Wingspan:73 inches
963 sq inWing Area
:65½ inLength
:10½ to 11 lbsWeight
:4-Ch, 6-ServoRadio
:1.20 to 1.50
Engine 2C:1.20 to 1.50Engine 4C:
I did not know if the above airframe would tolorate this engine for atleast sport high altitude acro. I fear it might be too big of an engine for the wing and have to put 1LB of wt in rear to balance it up and then have to come in HOT to land
any thoughs on the FUNTANA X100 for this engine or any other airframe that will allow good 3D fun:
Specs for the funtanna x100 are as follows:
Wing Span: 69.5 in (1765mm)
Overall Length: 68.5 in (1765mm)
Wing Area: 1108 sq in (71.5 sq dm)
Flying Weight: 8–8.5 lb (3.63 kg–4.03 kg)
Engine Size: .60-1.00 2-stroke; .90-1.25 4-stroke
Motor Size: Motor (for electric conversion) E-flite Power 110 brushless outrunner (EFLM4110A)
Radio: 4 channels w/6 servos
Trim Scheme Colors: White (HANU870), Pearl Blue (HANU845), Orange (HANU877), Silver (HANU881)
thanks in advance

The Cap would be the better choice. The Funtana is a very lightly built airframe and would never stand up to the pounding the gas engine is gonna give it.
How about the Wildhare 120 Edge or Extra. They are built around that engine

Though this is not related to your question, I would suggest that converting your engine to EI would make it a much lighter and better suited engine for doing the type of flying you want to do in that size models.

I don't know what the current charge is, but Ralph at RC Ignitions is the man to put any Zenoah engine on a strict diet. He does excellent work at very reasonable rates and is great person to do business with, plus he offers a lifetime warranty including crash damage on his work.
He can be reached at 928-635-2455 or by e-mail at rcign@dishmail. net

RE: g26 need airframe
I ran an EI converted G26 on my Funtana x100, muffler from Scott at Brillelli....AUW was 10lbs even, carried 10oz of gas....moved receiver battery just rear of canopy location in fuse to balance, no additional weight....ran Zoar 17x8, APC 17x6 and 18x6, Mezjlik 18x6 props. The Mezj being the clear winner at just over 9000rpms with the best thrust. The combo would do any 3d or Imac maneuver very well. For the wingspan the Funtana has more wing area than probably any others out there, offering very good flight performance, even with the moderate weight addition of the gas engine. I added aluminum angle stock to firewall for a little added support, but no other strengthening was done, no problems. Seal your hing gaps, and use GOOD slop free linkage with decent servos and you'll be fine.
Adjusted properly, the G26 is a very smooth engine.
The last time I checked. Ralph charged $125 for EI conversion, including new rotated carb spacer block, custom length prop hub, shortened crank, ignition mounted in the rear case housing or separately....with a lifetime guarantee on his work.

RE: g26 need airframe
I ran a G26 (magneto) is a Funtana X100. The engine was completely stock and I was spinning a Xoar 16A prop. I just sold the plane to a friend but I have to tell you that I had a blast with the plane. Excellent vertical, rolling harriers, spins, snaps, hovers no problem and flies well. I had to add 1.5oz of lead to the tail. The plane was not very high tech, however, it flew as well as my Extra 260 with DA 50 at about a 1/4 of the cost. Don't be afraid to try it. I did have to cut about .5" of the engine box to allow the G26 to fit. The plane never vibrated apart as many would think, although I did reinforce and fibreglass the engine box after I modified it. Have fun!
