G-62 Carb Insulator
Hi,
What is the function of the carb insulator on the G-62 engine?? Is it OK to remove or make it shorter??? The stock one makes me remove the carb to remove the cowl.

RE: G-62 Carb Insulator
The carb insulator block is just that. An INSULATOR block.
The purpose of the insulator block is to keep heat from transfering out of the cylinder and into the carb. If the carb gets heat soaked from the cylinder, it will vapor lock. This causes unwelcome deadsticks with your expensive toy airplane.
Get ahold of Ralph Cunningham. He is the Zenoah guru and can make a custom insulator block for you that is shorter than the stock one. He can also make one that will allow you to rotate the carb so you have a straight shot to the throttle arm with your pushrod. Makes installation a snap. His work is the finest quality and he is a great guy to talk too.
