Default RE: A123 batteries??

I have built quite many packs of A123 1100mah from B&D VPX for about $15 a pack. VPX packs are no longer available anymore locally. Too bad.

ORIGINAL: beachbrada

Has anyone used the 1100 mAh 2 cell packs for powering small glow planes? I have a OMP Edge 540 profile plane and I want to switch my 4.8 Nihm pack out for a 6volt pack. But I was just curious if anyone else was using the 2 cell A123 pack and about how many flights you get before recharging?
Yup, they work great. I built several of them thinking I'd use 'em for gas engine ignitions and decided to try one in one of the glow models I keep around. Works great and with them only weighing 3 oz. that helps too....[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Default RE: A123 batteries??

I was discussing with a friend at my Club the possibility of using A123 batteries on my new project, a 100cc Yak. He asked if any of the pros use them?.

Do you guys know if they use it?, guys like: Bill Hempel, Kyle Woyshnis, QuiQue Somenzini or any of them pros...

Let me know,
Thanks.

I aint a pro but I use them on my giant scale birds, RX and Ignition (with regulator). I build all my packs with a balance plug, so when I charge it checks each cell.

Why do the pros have to use them to be good?

If a pro uses them so you should!

You must be good to be a pro, and a pro must be good!

A pro uses whatever someone will sponsor them with, freebies.
