Default Hanger9 Extra260 Engine suggestions

I’m looking for advice on an engine for my 260.
http://www.hangar-9.com/Products/Def...ProdID=HAN2750
The DA 50 a little out of my price range right now.

I got a Fuji BT-50SB with the plane deal. I know nothing about the engine, and it doesn’t look like it will line up on the fire wall very well. Its foot print looks to be almost to the corners of the box. The previous owner had another engine attached so it has holes already in the fire wall. That will be another question fill in the holes with dowels and epoxy or cut the old plywood out and replace it.

Thanks

For that plane I would go with a DL30 or MT35. Nitro I would go OS200.

Hmm .. they are actually RCG - a cheaper version (Chinese domestic quality) of the actual RCGF. Personally, I'd stay miles away from it.
Have you considered the JC 28cc EVO?
RC Aero has them. Look under the big Aerovate thread

I have the same plane with a Thor 45cc. Have not flown it, but i have heard good comments about this combo. The Thor is a reasonable priced motor. It turns a SY 20x10 at about 7450. About to install a Xoar 21X8, hoping to get about 6800-7000 out of it. The early models had some ignition problems, but i think they got that sorted out. Or you could convert it to a RCexel ignition for 45-55 dollars. This setup weighs about 14 lbs 2 oz. The only weight savings I did, was to cut the floor out of the hatch (about 2 oz) and install a 16 oz fuel tank instead of the stock 20-24 oz (another couple oz).

The Dle30 might be a good choice, depending on the type of flying you intend to do. With the 30, you should be able to get the weight down into the low 13's or maybe even high 12's. Would be a good IMAC style flyer, do not know how good it would for 3D at that weight.

I also have a ZDZ 40RV-L, that would be a real nice engine for this airplane. The only thing about most rear induction motors is that you will have to cut a hole in the center of the motor box for carb clearance.

A lot of guys have used the DA50 and DL50 with good results. Here is the link to one of the build threads: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_28...tm.htm#2824663

About the holes, I would epoxy some dowels into them if you dont use them for your new motor.

i have a friend with that airplane and DLE55, its really amazing combo, DLE will give you a lot of power without spending extra money just for bling bling. You can get that engine from $340-$410 range.

DLE55 and a pitts muffler. If you use the side muffler (the one that comes with DLE) you will really chop up your cowl.

Your Rx battery (I used a A123) will need to mounted in the turtledeck.

Excellent combination.

If it was mine I would put a DLE-55 on it. I wouldnt go any smaller than that though.
