DA50 break-in prop
I'm using a 22-8 Mens S prop to break in. I have about 4 gallons of fuel through it, and it has yet to quit in flight. Try a 22-8 and try richening it. I do note that the idle rpm must be higher at the end of the fight than it was at the beginning. On the roll out after landing, it will die if I don't bump the throttle up a bit. Some other DA50 owners have also noted the same thing. It seems as the engine warms up during flight, it requires more fuel than when on the ground. I use the idle down feature in reverse. When I start the engine, it have the idle down feature on with the idle at the lowest setting for taxing, then after take off, I switch it off which sets the idle somewhat higher for the rest of the flight and the landing. Seems to work for me.

DA-50 break in prop
Try richening up the low speed a bit to keep it from quiting. The next size smaller prop than recomended for later running would unload the engine a bit for breakin.

I'm running a 22x10 meijlik. No problems on mine. I really havent touched the needles yet because its still early in the breakin. The only problem I have is it's a little tough to get that first start otherwise everythings hunky-dory!!!!!

Fellas,
Could you guys list what needle settings you are currently running on the DA50? I just got mine and the needles are set to the factory recommended starting points. I ran one tank of fuel through it on the bench and it ran great! Started on the first flip after choke, and it starts hot every time also.
I believe the factory recommended settings to start out with, are as follows: 1 1/2 out on low needle
1 3/4 out on high needle
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Either way, I started out with their recommended settings. What do you guys have yours set at, and how much time is on your engine(s)? Thanks.
P.S. I'm running a Pro Zinger 22x8. Mainly due to my Edge not needing any more than an 8 pitch prop.

Thats what mine started at also! I've turned in the low end an 1/8th to get rid of a little burble but havent touched the hi end. It was running at about 170 degrees so its staying cool.
