Lifer,
What do you recommend that would be a quick fix to beef up the horizontal stab.? I do not want to do major surgery and remove the covering! Maybe the RCGF 20cc with the side mount carb is best for my Texan application? If the carb has to go "inside" the firewall to the forward fuselage (Plus the gas tank has to be pushed back), what about positive air flow to the carb? Is see an air flow problem with this set up! Placing the carb inside the forward fuse behind the fire wall? It does not belong there and I'm not drilling air intake holes. IMO

a1pcfixer,
Thank you for the fire wall mod information. No, it is the H9 (Hangar 9) .60 size Texan ARF. So, is it safe to say that this DLE engine will be ok for a 60 size warbird if room is made in the firewall for the carb?

Will you have room to reposition the gas tank back farther?
As an aside; why is it, H9 comes out with models like your AT-6 and the Ultra-Stick 60 & 120's....then stop producing such good models? This DLE20cc & a H9/US60 would be a great beginners combo. Bummer.

Frank,
The side-draft RCGF 20 cc fit without cutting the cowl except for air exit on the bottom and a hole for the (shortened) exhaust pipe. I made a small hole so I could access the choke to open and close it with my finger. It flies great and required no weight to balance. I highly recommend the plane/engine combo.
Reinforcing for a larger/more powerful engine would involve sheeting the horizontal stabilizer then re-covering it. I would recommend that if using more power than the RCGF 20cc.
I also used the IBEF from Troy Built Models to save weight. The engine and the IBEF are still available from Troy.
PM me if you need more details.

I really can not see the carb inside or behind anything when positive air flow is critical for good performance. In my opinion I can only see more problems down the road by placing that rear carb inside the forward fuse. I do not think stand offs are an option for a beam mount engine. Maybe the carb should have been designed on the side for better air flow? Besides I really do not want to mod the fuel tank and move it further back.
Maybe the RCGF 20cc side carb or the Zenoah G-20 is better for my application? What to you think?

Would that be the [link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo/Files/AT6_75-91_Inst_Manual.pdf] AT-6 ARF 75-91 by Seagull....[/link]
Regardless of yes/no, most such warbirds have a eng mount & cowl mount as a matched setup. Where & how you mount the engine depends on a specified distance from firewall -to- prop hub. Stick with the stock rails, but you will need to cutout the firewall opening large enough for the entire carb to fit inside it. The carb sticks out just about 2'' from the back plate of this 20cc. You'll also need to mount the gas tank back farther.
Someone has probably already done something similar to this, but I'd still like to see photos of yours when you're done!
ps....1/8'' Tygon is what you'll need.

I have the H9 At-6 Texan that has a Magnum .91 four stroke. The DLE 20cc has the same beam mount of an O.S. 1.20, so I need another engine mount like the Great Planes #1091 nylon mount? I'm I correct? Or, can I stay with the mount I already have for the .91 Magnum?
Also, I plan to use the Tygon fuel tubing but I'm not too sure about the tubing ID for this engine? 3/32'' or 1/8''?

Besides, think of how short you can make your throttle linkage!
Use nylon linkage connectors &/or nyrod, so you don't transfer any ignition noise to your rcv!

a1pcfixer,
I'll have to check my tank and see. Don't know why the good warbirds get discontinued? H9 really needs to develop something new and original (FW-190), besides developing another P-51 Mustang. I think there are enough to choose from in the market.

Both are radial mounts and that choice is up to you.
For a beam mount gasser, I'd suggest [link=http://www.valleyviewrc.com/JBA%2015cc%20Gas%20Engine.htm]JBA J15G 15cc gas engine.....[/link]
Almost twice the HP of the Zenoah, lighter, and just cute as a button.
Should be a shoe-in for your situation!

a1pcfixer,
WOW!!! a front mount carb engine for beam mount! I did not know about this one. Here I do not have to cut my fire wall! This will be fine for my 60 size Texan.
What I like most about this engine is that I can get it from the nice people at Valley View.
A BIG thank you!!
What Du-Bro beam mount should I get for this engine or can I use the one I have for my .91 Magnum four stroke?

Forget the Zenoah G-20, it's too heavy for the HP its rated at.

This is getting off topic for the subject, so here's some links you'll get better info at....

aipcfixer,
Looking at that JBA again, it appears to be a converted glow engine? I do not know how reliable a glow conversion will work. I think that I would feel more comfortable with a traditional gasoline design.

I do not think the JBA is a glow conversion. All I know is it is one sweet little engine and I cannot wait to fly it. I am installing mine in an old Pica FW 190 I am just finishing up. It is like a big .60 or .90 size 2 stroke. I test ran mine last night and it works great.

Has anyone other than Jody at Valleyview or Mark at Aeroworks put the DLE 20cc in the air yet?
Is this a good match for the 20cc?

You got a link to a msg thread where Mark at Aeroworks claims to have one?
In the following thread, he states he's waiting on theirs to make a conversion kit to mount in their .60 -.90 PROX260 ARF- QB

From what I can find, only 2 in the USA, and 1 person in Spain has their hands on pre-releases of this engine (that we know).

RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser! (Data & Links 1st Post)
I have the funtana x100 from hanger nine with the DLE-30 in it. this is a replacement for an O.S. 1.08 which i took off because it would not run right. I HAVE TO SAY THIS IS A BIG OVERKILL BUT IT WEIGHS THE SAME AS THE 1.08 AND HAD TO DO NO CG CHANGES. IT FLIES AT HALF THROTTLE AND LESS. THE DLE-20 would most likely be right on for this model.
