Recommendations on 50cc 2-Stroke
I wanted to ask you guys what brand, make, and place of purchase for a 50cc 2-Stroke.
Order of importance: 1. Power 2. Cost 3. Reliability Always welcome; opinions and multiple choices. Many thanks in advance to all. |
RE: Recommendations on 50cc 2-Stroke
DLE 55cc from an authorized dealer.
1. Great Power 2. Can be had for around 355.00 this time of year. http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/DL55ENGINE.html 409.00 -55.00 savings http://www.valleyviewrc.com/DLE-55cc%20gas%20engine.htm 3. They have a proven track record for several years. I would buy from either Jody at Valley View or Troy built. Links above. DA has a new 60cc engine coming out but it is more $$ and there are other 50s out there in the DLE price range or less but most don't have a real established track record. Both dealers above service what they sell. |
RE: Recommendations on 50cc 2-Stroke
DLE55,Value Hobby has them for 325.00 plus shipping and they were only charging 5.00 to ship, don't know if that offer is still good.

RE: Recommendations on 50cc 2-Stroke
If i live in the USA, my choice is a DLE55 on valleyviewrc . [8D]

RE: Recommendations on 50cc 2-Stroke
I love to go against the grain but I own 2 DLE55's and they run like swiss watches.

RE: Recommendations on 50cc 2-Stroke
That they do Andy, I have 2 also and love em. For the power and proven track record I couldn't find anything else close in that price point. The reason I mentioned the 2 shops above is they are authorized DLE dealers and will do repair work themselves.

I can agree with all that you stated, but I don't get your power recommendations. MVVS-58 has been proven to run ~8hp, while the rest are rated aound 6hp. |
RE: Recommendations on 50cc 2-Stroke
the MVVS is a great power house of an engine, but you half to watch what air frame you put it in.it weighs just a little over 4lbs.i like mine and i still think it's the power king in the 55-60cc range.if you have a plane that needs more nose weight.

I love my DLE but also have (2) airframes it would not fit in at all due to the rear carb. It is important to know the application for the engine before making recommendations. |
RE: Recommendations on 50cc 2-Stroke
The MVVS is at the top of the power class, but also the top of the weight class. Since it might be for a warbird it would be an excellent choice. Next in line for that reason would be the 3w.
I left DA out of the list since they make both a 50 and a 60, creating a selection dilemma. Power wise the DA 50 falls after the DLE 55, price is equal to the BME 58. The DA 60 fits right next to the DLE 55 and BME 58, but slightly higher pricing. Quality for both is high. Interesting that the OP included decision making criteria in his original question. Typically of late is cost being the entire qualifier in the decision making process. It's good to see someone still understands there's more to the selection equation than cost alone. |
