RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
The headers that will fit this motor are the Macs Products 2985(std), 2986(long), 2987(ex long) which were originally designed for a YS 91SR.. The 2986 (which is what I've been using) is 10" from the flange to the end of the tubing measured through the center line of the pipe. I need to buy another one and try again, just haven't had time here lately. is that the ESM Adrenaline 120?<div>
</div><div>If yes, I thik you are going to be disappointed. That plane will weigh close to 4.8Kg when you're done building it. It would prefer a 30cc.</div> |

How will I mount the 30cc
Could you please guide me Cheers |

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
Iagree, Ihave a new DLE20 on a Hangar9 Taylorcraft, pushing 16+ pounds with a Vess 17X6. It pulls at about 14.5 pounds of static thrust. It won't go vertical forever, but has a lot of authority.

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
This looks like a good candidate for a DLE 20. But the specs on weight seem too heavy for 3d.

Nice looking Sukhoi. What's the wingspan and weight?

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
Seagull just came out with two planes. This is one of them.

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
Windgap - I see that's a Yak 55, 69". Did you see the spec calling for a 30-35cc gasser? I'd say a DLE 30 would be a much better match than a DLE 20 for that plane. And the 30 is only $50 more. I always prefer better to have MORE power than less. I have a DLE 30 in my 73" Carl Goldberg Sukhoi - that thing is a rocket! Will pull vertical all day. Great engine.

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
I guess you can tie a rock to a dle XX, with enough power, it'll fly. Unbelievable. Definitely not a 3d bird if it'll require so much engine.

ORIGINAL: WindGap I guess you can tie a rock to a dle XX, with enough power, it'll fly. Unbelievable. Definitely not a 3d bird if it'll require so much engine. Still, if you were looking for something aerobatic with somewhat less than unlimited vertical, and only limited hovering, I'll bet the plane would be really fun to fly on a 20cc. Maybe you could even get it under 11.5 pounds? |
RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
ahicks - agreed. I'd think if you want 3D in that plane you'd need more than a DLE 20. But you can always try, I suppose...
|
RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
anything more than 68" WS and 5 Kg in wt. will not 3D with a DLE20. This baby is above the threshold on both accounts and so a 30 it has to be.... See page no. 1 of the DLE20 thread.
I will recommend a DLE30 with an 18x8 or 18x10 for it. |
RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
I have modified a Dragon lady (66 inch ?) to take the DLE 20 .
Reduced the Dihedral ( spelling) ,ele and rud have been put up the back A BEC ignition kill has gone in and the fuel tank was moved colser to the COG . The canopy is also off a Swallow pattern plane so it has a pretty slick look . |

Installed a DLE-20 in a CMPro 120 Cub have 4 flights on it now. just love this motor plenty of power and uses hardly any fuel, if I had to guess I used about 3-4 oz for a 10 min flight and it's still new so maybe a tad rich. I did have to open up the cowl for more air but I don't think it looks bad.

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
nalby plane looks really good. btw how powerful is the plane. does it do verticals?

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
Is that the Cub that Nitro Planes sells?

ORIGINAL: boostoman nalby plane looks really good. btw how powerful is the plane. does it do verticals? Is that the Cub that Nitro Planes sells? AV8TOR Yes it's the same one nitroplanes sells, HobbyKing sells it also. It's a pretty nice arf, the only problems i've had was that the rudder and horizontal stab were really warped, some time with the heat gun and putting turnbuckles on the flying wires straightened that all out. Also the tail wheel was tiny so I used a dubro 957 Semi-Scale Tail Wheel System Size 60-120 |
RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
What is the wingspan? 120"?
Thanks, AV8TOR |
RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
It has a 91" wingspan so it's somewhere between 1/4 and 1/5 scale.
|
RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
Well, it looks nice and sounds like you got a good combo together. Thanks for the info.
BTW, interesting setup on your throttle linkage. AV8TOR |
