Please identify this engine
 

This was given to me. It's been crashed pretty hard and needs the crank straightened slightly. Missing a few fins here and there. Prop hub is BADLY bent.

It says 2.6 on the rear cover plate.

Any idea what it is? The rotating timing device is phenolic plastic and it has a ball on it for mechanical advance. No carb. Any idea where I can get one. The side of the cylinder where the carb attatches has 2 alignment pins. The carb would need too have two holes in the base to fit. This has a hole in the carb mount base for the pressure to the carb.

"Slighty straightened" looks like an understatment..A&M Sachs 2.6....If the crank has a small hole in the center it's a Sachs crank, good, if no hole it's an A&M crank, bad...The hub is hollow and is easily bent, but to be that crooked the crank is probably bent and twisted.....The original carb was a Walbro WT76A, about $40.00 new....The block under the carb was bakelite, no problem to replace....

Yup, the hub is a mangled mess. I have removed it and checked the crank with a dial indicator. It measured about .010" out with my untrained eye. I just put the hub and prop adaptor on for the picture. I thought it might help to identify it.

It must be an A&M crank. No hole in the end.

RC- would this thing be worth fixing? I know it will need a new hub and some other parts.

What did these cost new? What kind of power do they produce? I'm all about free engines-- but not if it's gonna cost me $350 to fix it up and make a decent runner.
