Engine for 1/7 scale TF P-51?

I'm building the Top Flite P-51 1/5 scale. I want to put a 4-stroke engine in it (better sound) and a gasser (lower operating costs). Recommendations? Thanks.

The FG 36 Saito is not really big enough for the 84" Mustang.

I have looked at about 20 different YouTube vids...most with different engines. The plans say it's a .90-1.20 for 4-stroke. I've heard the Saito 1.25 is a good engine but really don't know anything about it or any others. Up til now, I have been flying electrics, so I'm "fuel dumb" lol.

Saito makes extremely good 4 strokes.

50-60cc would be about right for this plane

55cc seems kinda large? recommendations are 1.20 ci max = 30cc.

In your title you typed 1/7 but in your message you typed 1/5. I think it's causing a little confusing

If it's a 60 size (1/7) a FG36 Saito will work. I have a couple 1/7 mustangs and I'm running YS110s, they sound awesome and they are little rockets.

There are a lot of the 1/7 Mustangs flying with the Saito FG-20's

The DLE20 would be a good choice for the 1/7 scale Top Flite - for a muffler get the Jtec small muffler for the DLE20. Its a gas engine but in my opinion it sounds better than the saito 4 strokes. Plus its a lot cheaper and uses cheaper gasoline fuel.

The DLE 20 has a lot more opower than the Saito FG-20 and is a lot less trouble

Whoops guys..my mistake! You're right, rstearman...I mixed it up. It is a 1/7 scale TF P-51. I just read about a guy's problems with the the FG 20 and he returned it. This is why I'm really checking with experience first! I definitely want a 4stroke, gasser.

I don't want a muffler sticking out the side of the plane, but am not familiar with the Jtec...I'll check it out. Pitts style would be fine, and Keleo would really be cool.
