Spark plug for older Zenoah G23

I have a Zenoah G23 magneto engine which was purchased new about 1990. It was installed in a plane and flown for about 10 flights. The plane was stored and never flown since. Just recently the engine was removed and installed into another plane. The spark plug that is in the engine is a NGK BMR7A. I don't recall if that was the original plug that came with the engine or was a replacement. I want to get a spare plug or go to one that is considered more appropriate for the engine. My question is: Is the NGK BMR7A still the proper plug or is there a substitute that works better for that engine?. I did do an overhaul to the carb by replacing the diaphragm and gaskets. The engine has been started and it runs okay.

Thanks

BMR 7 A is correct, also NGK BMR 6 F
Longer BP plugs will hit the piston.

That plug, NGK BPMR7A is an awesome plug for any of the Zenoahs, including the GT-80 twin.

I use them too on my Zenoah G62 but the BPMR7A is a projected tip plug and will not work on the small Zenoah's as the piston will hit the tip of the plug.

So on the G23 you have to use the BMR7A without the "P" .

Thanks for clearing that up. I just hate to go out and buy a wrong plug. Just in the event I can't find a BMR7A locally, is the Champion RCJ6 a suitable replacement plug for the NGK BMR7A?

Nope, too long...You can use an extra washer...
Try it first, sometimes the cylinder is machined a little long at the top, a projected tip plug might work...Generally it just closes up the gap..

Okay. BMR7A is the plug for me. I'll go to the lawn mower shops tomorrow (they are closed today). I did stop at 3 different auto part stores and nobody stocked them.

Thanks again

Mike
