Spring in DLE plug cap

Is it necessary to run the spring in plug cap & whats the purpose of it.... Will it harm anything if u don't run it. I had a DLE 20 that i didn't run the spring in & never had any problems....Just curious is all...

I stripped my threads in my cylinder today on my DLE 30.. Installed a Smart Fly system & could'nt get to run at all. Had power coming from the smart fly ignition lead & also had spark inside plug cap when magnet went by, but it would'nt even pop. I had a 42% system in it before & had a wild hare to change out & now this....Wishing now i woulda left good enuf alone....I'am sending the cylinder off the C.F. Lee to get fixed.. I called all over town looking for a 10mm x 1.0 mm helicoil & didnt have any luck. Mr. Lee charges $15.00 to repair & that includes return shipping. I also went ahead & ordered a new cylinder from Tower....

I'n not going to say it[:@]

If the cap is on tight the spring is not needed. Seems a lot of people need it though. It acts as a ground guarantee for the limp wristed.

If the cap had spark the ignition was not the reason for not running. Try fuel next.

You should like the Heli coil threads better. Just do not over tighten the sparkplug.Snug should be OK. Capt,n
