Found this on another forum!

I found this on another forum, and would like to share it:

Five Golden Netiquette Rules

Rule 1: Don't post messages you wouldn't say to a person's face
Rule 2: Respect other people's time and bandwidth (corollary: Lurk before you leap)
Rule 3: Share expert knowledge whenever possible
Rule 4: Respect other people's privacy
Rule 5: Be forgiving of other people's mistakes

Sorry for posting it here, but I see many threads as very 'flammable' and, even though this one might 'flame up' itself, it's worth reminding everyone that most -if not all- of us, have RC as our hobby, passion and love...

Enjoy

Thank you. All the "Gas Engine" contributors abide by those thoughts naturally. Rules are not required. Dan.

kum by ya, kum by ya. j/k! Rule#1 is the one most often violated; it's amazing how obnoxious/rude/tuff people are over the net or even phone, but they wouldn't do that to your face!

Talk to Jody. I'm the same in person, and very intolerant of having my time and efforts wasted. OTH, Jody is the ultimate diplomat...in public.

Depends on what day it is. I think #3 or #4.

We have to remember that people like to be offended when they are not spoken to in the manner they prefer. Then you have those that become offended when they are providd information they didn't want to hear, or hear information in a manner they don't like to hear it. A great many people have problems communicating in a direct manner. They prefer that anything that could be attributed to them directly be phrashed in a manner that makes the statement a generality. Then you have the group where any and everything that happens to them is the fault of someone else. It all really comes down to blaming someone or something else whenever possible.

For me it's easier to just say it, and put the heat where it belongs the first time around. Less explaining that way but some become offended. I try to remember that if someone becomes offended it's not my problem. They are the ones offended and they have to deal with it by either facing the truth or avoiding the truth. Many choose to avoid it because to accept it would require them to realize they are not who they would like to be. If they accept they move forward much faster and make fewer repeated mistakes.

Dang Pat, that was pretty good. I kinda like the old cliche, You want the truth, you can't handle the truth! (I know, I know, they twisted it all up in the movie to make it seem wrong) I guess the older I get the more I see the truth as the "Only Way". Anything but the truth will ultimately lead you somewhere you won't want to be.

The older I get, the more intolerant of stupidity I seem to become. When tolerant, it amuses me, but most times I just turn away my head trying not to become ol' grumpy #5

The older I get the more I forget. So sometimes I get grumpy just trying to remember all the things my wife wants me too remember (thats a lot) but what gets me is when I go toget a tool I need...I get there and forget what I was looking for!!! Them days I am grumpy # 3 or somewhere in there...I forgot allready!!!!!!!!!!!!! Capt,n

Oh yea- here's my take on those rules
#1 Twitter and facebook. What face to face
#2 Don't respect themselves much less others
#3 They know it all so you can't know that
#4 Privacy?? Has anyone seen what they put on #1 apparently don't want any
#5 They don't make mistakes
And for the truth, He who claims to speak "The truth" is the one I pressume to be the biggest liar.

As my father taught me "Let your actions speak for the man you are"

I, along with some others, could take that as an insult or challenge but it's not worth the effort.

I could not agree more with you. We are hear to share ideas, talk about the hobby, and help others.

Granted not everyone is going to have the same outlook or opinion so why does that sometimes turn into bashing people?

I got caught up with a few people trying to get under my skin but now I just don't even worry about them.

Happy flying!

Gents:
I try to word my posts when answering a question in kindness and respect to the original poster of the question. I guess I am the same way in person. I do tend to let my "redneck" out of the bag however, when people go out of their way to rude. I don't see anything wrong with trying to be nice and answer someone's question in a respectful way.

That's just me though.

From Benjamin Franklin:

"Anger is never without a reason, but seldom with a good one."

"Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do."

"A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle."

"Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn."

"Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing."
