Venom Copperhead
Ijust got a very nice 27%Extra with a 45cc Venom Copperhead. Copperhead is out of business and I probably won't be able to get many parts.
But it has a good compression and looks barely used. So I will try to make this workand get a different engine when it breaks. Does anybody have a manual for these? I have tried to hand start it, but no luck. Just a pop once in a while. My starter is too weak to turn it over. When I get a Dynatron, do I need the reduction gear for this engine? WIll it have enough power when running on a 12 Volt battery? |
RE: Venom Copperhead
You need a Megatron for this large of an engine. I just hand start all of mine.

Oliver, if you are getting a pop every now and then and you don't know the engine's history, it sounds like you should rebuild the carburetor first. Spark plug engines should start with hand proping. If that fails, try one of these.

RE: Venom Copperhead
I thought about the carburetor and will work on that before I spend the money for a new starter.
So it should be no problem to hand start an engine like this, when evrything is in the right order? Ihave some smaller gas engines, 15 and 20cc and they start up fine with the electric starter but very hard to hand start. Thanks for the information |

RE: Venom Copperhead
I have a new JBA 15, which comes with an oversized carb, so I switched this one out and put the bigger one on the Copperhead.
Then I found a cordless drill I can use to start it. After some tries I found the ring with the ignition pickup magnet loose. So the timing was off and I finally got it to run, I can start it by hand now. The timing is not perfect yet, but getting there... |
RE: Venom Copperhead
Oliver, this should help with the timing. Thanks for posting what the problem was. Dan
