DLE spark plugs!!!

[:'(][:'(] Guys I knew they were bad and i use ngk cm6's for all mine. Well today I did not have a spare cm6 one and I wanted to run a 30 that I just got for a Mustang. Well the engine would not hold an idle and the top end was erratic! I started chasing nettles and after 15 LONG frustrating minutes I decided to remove one from my Waco and SUCCESS!!! The Idle cleared right up and the top end after readjusting was great!! Lessened learned, always have a spare plug!!!:D :D:D Will be ordering a couple from jody and some props within the week!!! Knew they were bad but never realized they could cause that much trouble!!!

Jody,

Interesting snap. Their manufacturing process leaves a lot to be desired in terms of quality control.

Having said that, I've used the original DLE plug that came with my 55 and have had no problems. At least not yet- 2 gallons and 22 tankfuls which ain't much run time. When the engine starts acting strange, that's the first thing I'll change

Matt, I have heard that the cheap Chinese plugs can shed the electrode and ruin the engine in the process. That is why I replaced mine with the Cm6. I have seen the pictures of the aftermath, and its not pretty.[:o]

Some people are able to run the DLE plug for a long time without trouble and other people have no luck with it from the beginning. They more typically fail not long after you begin using them.

However, the RCEXL CM6 size plug holds up pretty well. The NGK CM-6 is best.

RE: DLE spark plugs!!!

I have the RCEXL plug in my DLE30 and it's been working great. Mine came with the RCEXL and since I had never tried one and it was free I figured what the heck. I keep plenty of NGK's on hand just in case of a plug issue. I sure wouldn't want to have to head home over a simple plug problem.

RE: DLE spark plugs!!!

The DLE plugs are real short on consistency. As previously noted somethimes you'll get one that works for awhile but frequently they will work only intermittantly, leaving the user quite perplexed sonsidering what is wrong with their engine.

The NKG plug will last well in excess of 100 hours of run time. If you tune your engines reasonably well the NGK should last you 4 years or more for the average weekend flyer. This is the reason buying a well made plug for a little more money is actually cheaper in the long run, plus your flying days are spent flying instead of troubleshooting.

Why pay $6 + shipping,, your local auto store can get them for around $3 each,, I got a few at Auto Zone (they had to order them)

Ordered 2 NGK cm-6 plugs from O'Reilly's last week, $3.59 each.
It cost me twice that for one DLE plug from my LHS, I'll be returning.

I can verify that the Denso U20M U works very well. I ran one in my DLE 55 all summer and it's still there.

Yup, the Denso plug is just as good as far as I can see. I still have the one I got from you. I was wondering if your going to try a Mintor 33 or 38cc engine sometime? Thanks Capt,n
