DLE 30cc Choke Operation
Just have my first gas engine, but i have a really silly question it seems, I have a Aeroworks Edge 540, with a DLE 30cc engine in it. My question is how will i use the choke, every time cold start? or whens the proper time and how much to open it? basically the reason i ask this is ive installed the choke pushrod as per manual, and it seems fairly dangerous once the engines running to shut it off cause the way its mounted is very close to the prop in the front.
Thanks |
RE: DLE 30cc Choke Operation
I start mine this way;
1st start of the day, full choke, ignition on, flip a few times and it should pop and cut out. (It won't run on full choke) When you have it at that point, take the choke off completely and it should start with one or two hard flips. If you re-start it during the day it should start without the choke, but if it doesn't want to play ball go back to step 1 When you flip a gasser don't muck around, use a good amount of force and follow through with your arm so you get your hand out of the way. A lot of people use a heavy leather glove. |
RE: DLE 30cc Choke Operation
i usually just choke everytime i fly any gasser..... doesnt really bother me much having to do so... i have my lowends set borderline lean, so chokinging till it pops helps get fuel to the carb quicker..... i could set my carbs to turn on after the first choke of the day, and leaving it off thereafter, but doing that gives me more midrange burble..... its just personal preference

ORIGINAL: karolh Since this is your first gas engine I would suggest you ask someone more experienced with them to take you safely through the normal starting technique, so as to aquaint you with how the engine behaves. Karol |
