How to remove hub MVVS or Evolution 58 engine
 

Hello, I have never worked on a MVVS or Evolution gas from Horizon engine. Anyone know the tips and secrets to remove the hub? How does the propeller shaft come off, then how do you pull the propeller hub off? One person said that a puller would damage the hub. So any help would be appreciated very much, Randy

the hub is on a taperd shaft,you need a puller that has holes in it to match the holes in the hub.i use a prop hole drilling jig that has a center hole tap for treads and just use your prop bolts and screw it to your hub and use the center screw to pull off the hub.it will take a little bit of pressure to get it loose from the taperd shaft,don't use any heat on the hub,that weakens the magnet in the prop hub.

What about the propeller shaft, how does it come off ? It has to come off before attempting to take hub off right? My drill jig has a small threaded hole in the center, maybe 5mm. I have the jig from Horizon that drills several different engines thanks

Double nut the prop shaft, turn the bottom nut to remove the shaft but, don't remove the shaft the entire way. Remove the double nuts, wind one nut down the shaft, now place the two blue prop washers on top of the nut. Use three of the prop bolts at 120 degrees and slowly tighten each bolt. As you reach the bottom of the prop shaft you will have to losen the shaft then apply more pressure on the bolts. You'll reach a point when the hub will just pull off!

I use a split nut. like this:
1 leave the prop on the hub: one washer before, and one behind the prop
2 using the split nut, put it on the central shaft and clamp real tight in a vice.
3 turn the prop to loosen the M8 thread of the central bolt.
4 turning the prop slightly more will butt up the central bolt flange up to the prop disks
5 Loosen the 6 prop bolts three turns
6 turn the prop until the collar flange butts up again.
7 carefully tighten the prop bolts little by little going round and round.
8 at a certain moment in time, the hub will snap loose
9 using the central bolt, turn it out of the shaft and thus remove the complete hub assy

fitting:
You need a 12.9 M8 bolt, thick washer(s) and nut for this!!!!
1 Place the hub on the sgaft, making sure the seal is oiled, and the key is located well.
2 put the high stringth bolt in the crankshaft, and add washers so they are above the hub face.
3 fit an old prop with very large central bore on the hub. The large central bore must allow a wrench to be applied to the nut
4 Torque the nut to 35Nm. While increasing torque, check shaft axial play. It should reduce to about 0.05mm (can just be felt by hand)
5 remove the nut and washers
6 insert central bolt and torque to 25Nm
7 Done.
