Shorter Spark plug for G62 Question
I have a recently purchased new ZENOAH G62 with standard Magneto ignition as my first gas engine for a 1/5 scale Spartan Executive. It came with a Champion RCJ7Y plug that sticks out the bottom of the cowl a bit.
Using the Toni-Clark 90 degree mount for the carb that faces the WALBRO card towards the rear so it fits within the cowl except for the spark plug nicely. Was wondering if there is a shorter plug available for this engine that would work just as well. Appreciate any help in this regard. Ray <br type="_moz" /> |
RE: Shorter Spark plug for G62 Question
NGK BPMR6F is a tapered seat plug that is a direct replacement for the Champion RCJ7Y which has a gasket.
The BPMR6F is the smallest full size spark plug available. If in the future, you decide to go with a shielded cap type ignition, RCEXL sells a cap assembly specifically for this smaller spark plug. You will find no difference in the way the engine runs between the RCJ7Y and the BPMR6F |

RE: Shorter Spark plug for G62 Question
The BPMR6F plug is no shorter than the plug you have now.
I get asked this question a lot and the only way as I know of is to use a 14mm to 10 mm plug adapter and use CM6 plus or 14mm to 1/4 32 adapter and use 1/4 32 spark plugs. But to do this you have to use a shielded ignition system because the CM6 and 1/4 32 spark plugs are not a register plug. The draw back to the 1/4 32 plugs is they do not last as long as a BPMR or CM6 spark plug. Milton |

RE: Shorter Spark plug for G62 Question
The NGK BPMR6F spark plug is enough smaller than the Champion RCJ7Y to require a smaller shielded cap from RCEXL
Madmax himself sells RCEXL ignition units made specifically for each type spark plug. |

Thanks gentleman.<div>
</div><div>I stopped off at my local Autozone and purchased a <span style="background-color: rgb(251, 252, 255); font-family: Verdana, Arial; font-size: 13px; ">BPMR6F</span><span style="background-color: rgb(251, 252, 255); font-family: Verdana, Arial; font-size: 13px; "> plug. As you say it is slightly smaller in height and diameter of the insulator as compared to the </span><span style="background-color: rgb(251, 252, 255); font-family: Verdana, Arial; font-size: 13px; ">RCJ7Y.
