DLE Fuel Consumption

Happy Fathers Day!I am going to put 2 DLE 20's on my TF B-25. I want to Replace the 14oz tanks with 12oz tanks. The engines will be running at 3/4 power most of the time.Question, will I get 7 mins of run time at 3/4 throttle on a 12oz tank?

My 40cc engines use 1.5 ounces per minute. You would be cutting close with a 12 ounce tank. Dan.

I'm running a 12 oz tank in my Yak with no problems at all with a dle 20

Dan, I would be running each engine on their own tank. If your 40cc uses 1.5, then 20cc should .75ish. 12oz by .75 should be 16 min.I shooting for 7 mins flying time. Thanks for your Input.

Kerwin,Is that full throttle or 3d?

Since you going to bench run the engines anyway, why not do a fuel consumption study?

Chris, this depends on the rpm you are planning to operate the engine at......3/4 throttle is one clue but if you are turning 9K (small prop), it takes fuel to turn that speed

I run 11 oz tanks on the 30cc sized engines I run (OS 33 and DLE35). I run these at 2/3rds throttle mostly which for my set-up is around 6500 rpm. I get around 15 minutes run time with about 2 ozs left in the tank.

Your 20 should work plenty long enough on 12 oz gas. I'd guess at least 10 minutes unless you are turning pretty high rpm

I used between a 1/3 and 1/2 of a tank on this flight, using an apc 17/6

You are running a twin engine plane. why bother dropping two ounces of fuel. keep the extra two ounces of fuel for safety. just set your timer so you know when you are getting close. Is that extra 4 ounce at take of really worth it? think about some.

I have to put smaller tanks in to make the DLE 20's fit, otherwise my cowls will be to far in front of the nacelles. Not a good look.

It depends a lot on your load (prop size) and needle settings.
I'd fill it up, go for an (exactly) 5 minute flight and see what's left.

You only need 8 ounces I run 11 ounce on the 30cc and probably could fly 25 mins

I've yet to run one out of fuel in 15 min of flying at 3/4 throttle on everything from a 1/5 biplane to 60 size warbirds using a 10oz tank. An extra 4-5 ozs of fuel adds some weight. I use 17x6 zoar props running 8500-9000
