Mine arrived yesterday. It took more time than expected to get here using Fed Ex ground.

I took it out of the wraps and turned it over. Very good compression, better than any other engine with one exception, the OS GT33. It feels fairly stiff as I turn it, but that should go away with run time, making for a tight feel and long life after full break in.

I didn't realize that the heads can be purchased either for the small spark plug or the more typical CM6 size plug. Unfortunately mine came equipped with the small plugs. I will probably return itto getthe more conventional plugs

Early photos showed the engine with a single prop nut, which was a selling point for me. My engine came with the four screws in front. It's okay but I'd prefer the single nut because that opens up the whole array of APC props with narrow hubs this engine can turn.I have an 18.5 x 9.5 Wide hub apc prop ready drilled for a DLE35 that should work for break in; I assume the bolt pattern is the same

A nice touch is the fact that the engine is prerun for quality assurance.

I found it interesting that they recommend Stihl Ultra as the oil of choice and then proceed to say that the oil is biodegradable, losing 80% of its life after 3 weeks. I suppose that means that once mixed it better get used up quickly. I have no plan to use that oil. I'm staying with what I knopw works well for me....

Got my eyes on that engine and keenly watching the progress/results. Do tell how it works out for you. I would prefer the smaller plugs as they would more easily fit in cowls.

My observation of this engine and the optional availability of the angled 1/4-32 spark plugs on the bottom corner of the cylinders . . . .

Unless it is mandatory for you to have the 7" width, from personal experience I would get the CM-6 spark plugs which makes a 9" width.

The reason being is - all it takes is a minute piece of carbon to foul a 1/4-32 spark plug - so I see the CM-6 as being a more reliable option.

Yeah, my small plug in my saito has that problem. Fouls up easily. :(

I've emailed Tom at VVRC and he will exchange the engine. But he stated the plugs (and I assume caps??), are straight, so the width may be >9". He also stated that the smaller plugs will not last as long as the CM6 will. I expect the CM6 plugs and CDIplug caps will add weight. The smaller plugs and plug caps result in a very compact look especially on top of these rather small heads.

For those interested, the option is something you choose on-line. I simply missed it and now have to go through gyrations to get it fixed. A real PITN

Whatever..... it's intriguing enough to spend some development time to figure outa good set-up. Mine will be soft mounted and piped, as all my stuff is. Tom said that my typical BelRay MC1Avgas mix will be fine, which was expected....

Nice to see you are an authorized DLE/VVRC engine distributor and service center. Are you a competitor of Valley View RC ?

I talked to Tom at Valley View RC on Wednesday and ordered mine. It will be equipped with NGK CM-6 plugs.

I am so glad they are giving you options for angled plugs AND options for smaller plugs. I had to tig weld my DLE 60 twin and tap the plugs. Looks like Valley View is listening to what we need. I have been using the RCexl 1/4 plugs and found them to be very good. I will get the 40cc twin for my smaller Corsair I am doing, very happy to see this being available.

Fed Ex just delivered mine. No damage.......well packaged.....looks good.

Ordered mine with the NGK CM-6 angled plugs.

Yes we offer this engine with the CM-6 angled plugs and also the 1/4 X 32 small plugs, we have not had any bad feedback on the small plugs so they must be working good.

The VVRC 40cc width spark cap to spark cap is around 7.8 in , should be fit your cowl very well !

I now have over two gallons through this Engine.....WOW...it has been flawless. Great response though the entier throttle range.

Vvrc offers a single prop bolt conversion for about $30.00 that you can install your self call them.

this engine sounds like it belongs in my 1/4 sig tundra super cub.

got a call from Troybuilt models yesterday and was told they cant honor the internet price on the cessna 195 businessliner. what a holiday bummer.

THree more tanks of gas through the 40CC today....it's running great. I have a 20X8 carbon fiber prop on it and tomorrow I'm going to try a Vess 20B and see what it does.
