DLE 20cc engine and Biela 4 Blade Prop

I have placed a DLE 20cc engine on a TF P-51. I have gotten a Biela 15X8 4 blade prop for the engine and have found the thickness of the prop hub to be nearly 1 inch. This is too thick to safely put the spinner, prop, prop washer, and prop nut. Biela does have a 14X9 4 blade prop. Does anyone know if this prop may not be as thick at the hub or can some suggest a possible solution to this problem?

I don't understand what your problem is but I have used Tru-Turn to solve all of my problems with one of their spinners and adapters. Here is an image of one of their spinners I needed for a pusher application. Dan.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1965082

I get what you're asking. The Bielas do have very thick hubs. I would call Troy Built and ask them. They will probably be able to help you.

I don't know what it is called but there is a type of nut that recesses into the prop as you tighten it down. I have used them on MVVS glow engines. It requires a larger hole in the hub, but that usually isn't a problem. Perhaps someone can chime in on this and name the recessed nut design.

Thanks for your replies.

I'd be interested in the results of a 5 bladed prop on that engine! Keep us up to date.

It's called a sleeve nut, don't know where you can get them as I usually turn mine up on a lathe.

Thank you! I have used them for years on MVVS engines, but couldn't remember the name. The person posting could use a search engine and likely locate it.
Again, thanks.

It's going to look something like this. Add a washer and drill the prop to the appropriate clearance and you can secuerly bolt the thick-hubbed prop down.

As All Day Dan said in post #2, Tru-Turn can provide anything you need for spinners and adapting it to your engine. Not cheap but they have the products. You might check the extensive inventory of their products that Tower stocks. If they don't have what you need, go directly to Tru-Turn.
